Whilst my dying 360 gently steers me towards Nintendo or Sony

Funny thing is, my newest refurb unit is a model from 2005. And I just got it 2 or 3 weeks ago.

 

actually the one i had was already registered, i just moaned a bit and said my parents bought it me second hand and i didnt want to upset them by telling them that it was broke etc..

I put more paste on my teeth when cleaning them at night than you assumed was wholly necessary to transfer the heat to the heat sinks. Net result, I have a GPU that is crippled and gives me either NO output or an output that looks like I am viewing it through Fairy washing up liquid! What more do you want from your loyal customers? Surely, not more money?! Am I to buy every revision of this console?

I think a class action against MS should be filled , it's obvious they ve been cheap and delibertly reckless about the quality of their consoles ;p

 

LOL - I shall remember that care & concern shown to me when your 360 inevitably bites the dust. We will both have waffle irons then - how do you like them apples? lol

Sony got one of those for their bad PS2 lasers - MS should get one for their bad consoles.

 

I'm not going to name any names, but a large independent retailer I called to see about repair work said the following:

"It's the worst design ever! MS should be ashamed. We refuse to buy in any second hand as we have been stung so frequently. Our last batch were repaired, but we were so concerned about the boards that we off loaded them to another high-street company (he did tell me who and I will NOT be buying a second hand unit from them). A new motherboard is £90, £65 to have it repaired, but the problem is a design flaw and will keep coming back"

In his opinion, as an electrical engineer and repair specialist is that the cross frame / heat sink design is pulling at the boards. Just as many others have stated. So, that's a solution I will start looking at.

I was also told that:

"Of all the consoles we have ever sold, the 360 has the highest return rate and we are seeing the same issues time & again".

 

Considering MS are trying to reinforce that GOW is not pushing the 360 to its limits......

I said a while back that I'd retire the launch edition unit before anything happened to it. Never got the chance. It still powers up, I am going to possibly get this unit sorted and then stick it aside for the launch factor.

 

RIP ur unit, the only chance u got is try the coins method i told u on msn ..., i would never belive this would work until i tried it ...

EDIT : you can also put small heatsinks on ram bga chips, its possible this would fix your unit

 

I hardly play mine since it came back from MS. Except LIVE Arcade ofc.

Edit: This is what happens when a software company tries to engineer hardware by themselves while cutting as much fat off the production costs as possible.
