I tell you if Sony had offered headsets in every PS3 bundle like Microsoft did with the 360 people would have a much different opinion of PSN. I think that the lack of communication on some games has users frustrated when it comes to online. As obviously some games require a lot of team work and due to the fact that a large percentage of people don't have a headset it swings Xbox Live as being better for a lot of people I guess.
Yeah, it's like a free gifts + rental service. If someone spends lots of money on the PSN, it might be worth it, since it gives discounts too. To be honest, getting a headset it's not on my priority list. Killzone2 requires teamwork but everybody understands what they have to do. Maybe with clan matches it becomes more important... Anyway, if someone want's to donate a headset, i would gladly accept it
you don't have a headset? how do you talk to your friends online? 95% of the time i'm on xbox live i'm in a party with 2 or more friends just talking whether we're playing the same game or not. it wouldn't be nearly as fun online with no one to talk to... maybe i'm in the minority though.
Well, i don't have that many friends of PSN yet. The other day i was playing Killzone2 online and Barc0de sent me a message and then i talked to him through text messages. Plus PS3 still don't have cross game chat (one of the things XboxLive has the advantage is that), so the only use for a headset is when you are talking to people on the same game / room. I'll probably get one when GT5 arrives, but it's not a priority for now.
i didn't buy lots of games on psn due to feeling the price a little too high... if they give good frebies or discount it might be really interesting... what is for free/discounted this month?
And.....? ?_? what is the point of the post? Not like on xbl or the wii service you get discounts or freebies, right? If they give me let's say a 20% discount on dl games (just an example) i would buy lots more than now.
i'm paying to play games online when i pay for xbox live. that's the point. everyone's like, "oh, little big planet for free, oh, ps1 game for free, oh, discounts." it's not free, it's $50. xbox live gives has a deal every week. some game 50% off. a week ago, because of the world cup, all soccer/football related dlc/games were on sale. that's all bonus stuff. when people pay for xbox live they pay to play. actually the deals of the week are gold exclusive. so i guess you just have to do the math and see if you'll get more than $50 of stuff you actually want.
Like i said, you pay 50 dollars for 1 year of PSN+. If you join this month, you get 3 more months for free, sou you are paying 50 dollars for 15 months. Just on the fist month alone, the whole content value is 88 dollars. Still it will depend on the kind of user and what they like. If someone likes to play PS1 Classics or PSP Minis, it's worth it. You'll get 15 PS1 Classics for "free" that surpasses the 50 dollars price. And also 15 PSP Minis, avatars, themes, acess to early betas and demos, the possibility of trying a full PS3 game before buying... If i'm not mistaken, US members also get WipeoutHD for free. That one is 25 dollars worth of value alone. Anyway, one important thing is that all this is a plus, just like the name. If you don't want, just continue like it always been. I won't get it simply for the fact that there's nothing interesting for me. I already have WipeoutHD (on blu-ray i might add), just got Infamous, don't care about avatar or themes (i'm using a free Gran Turismo theme i found on the PSN Store), and if i want a PS1 Classics, PSP Mini or any PS3 game on the PSN Store, i'll buy the one i want. PSN+ full info and content of the first month: http://us.playstation.com/psn/playstation-plus/ XboxLive Gold is a better service but it requires paying to play online. PSN+ is not required for online play, instead gives the user some content every month. It's two different things.
What annoys me now is before Sony had been trying to add features to the system to make it better, butt from now on those improvements will only be for PSN+ users. The first clue of this is how Hulu Plus is coming to the PS3, but it requires PSN+. The current free PSN will most likely not get any better than what it is now. The only thing I'll be angry about is if when they integrate Netflix into the PS3 later this year is that it requires PSN+ despite it not requiring any extra fee with the disc based version.
I was tempted to take the 3 months sub, but I already own Wipeout: if I didn't I would go for it as I would get my money's worth just for the couple of free games they offer.
i'm waiting for them to offer i game i'm interested into for free before buying I already have wipeout
It's sad you can't choose your own game, I mean most people probably already have wipeout as it was one of the better games on offer.
