I'm thinking I might get PSN+ but not before I buy a new slim (60GB is dead). This is only to try it out, plus you get an extra couple months free at launch. All DLC, premium themes/avatars they give you are yours to keep and you also get Qore - which IMO was better the first year than now. I think in the US you also get Netflix? What sucks is the UK gets WipeOut HD free. I'm in Canada so I get screwed either way...

At the moment no. I might get it for japan if it offers solid discounts on PSP titles (they said they would) but so far for the first month in japan its free LBP (already own that), demos to pain & toro golf (own TG), a eh ps1 game, discount on wipeout and some icons. Not really anything I want.

What i'm more interested in is NeoGeo games are coming to PSN soon (maybe this week). PSP got fw 6.30 last night and when you put on folders, there is one for NEOGEO. ^_^

At least PSN has free online gaming. Anyway, i don't think PSN+ has much to offer for me.

I don't care about Themes, Avatars, i rarely download demos, don't care about Qore,...

They have to offer better and newer stuff (that I don't already own) before I put any money down for it.

I probably will. I'll wait to see what the first month or so is like though.

Not yet gonna hang tight to see what happens with it. I like the idea of the betas and full games in the service though

PSN+, what a load of crap. It should be standard to ALL users just like Xbox live. Then if you want extra goodies then pay for a higher level account such as Xbox live Gold accounts. True that PSN does offer free online gaming but how is the quality? 360 has you paying but to be honest it's not that much per year and the service is excellent or at least in this part of the world it is.

I won't argue that XboxLive is a more complete service, but online gaming on the PSN is just fine. I play online Killzone2, WipeoutHD/Fury, GT5 Prologue, Motorstorm Pacific Rift,... just fine. And i have a simple 2mb connection.

Never had problems with lag or any connection issues. For a free service that's simply amazing. PlayStation Store downloads are fast (game patches not so fast). And it seems that 3.40 firmware improved the Store browsing / loading speed, XMB menu / friends list loading and software scalling ( INFO ).

XboxLive still has the edge, but PSN is good as well.

I've never had an issue with the free PSN service. And exactly what are you saying should be standard? Free games? I don't get it...

PSN with online play for free is standard to all PS3 owners. Gold, and online play, is not standard for all 360 owners.

That's precisely what PSN+ is trying to do.

    What was your point, exactly?

if people struggle with justifying the price of Xbox Live, how are they ever going to justify paying for PlayStation Plus.

People pay for Live because they want to play games online. Not for early access to demos. The PS3 already has free online play.

I'm fine with paying for online play, but paying for full-size demos? There's now way I'm ever going to pay for demos. I don't even remember the last time I downloaded a demo...

I'm not questioning the quality of the PSN online gaming just asking how it was for a free service. As for standard PSN and Xbox live silver they both let you download games and patches. I'm just trying to understand if PSN+ is charging people for something that should be free to all users such as game updates and so on.

Basicly PSN+ will give you free avatars and themes, a free PS1 classic, a free Mini, full PS3 game trials, acess to early demos and betas, store discounts,... Every month there's going to be free content of all those stuff i mentioned.

Still, on the PSN free service, you can get all those items as well apart from the early demos and betas and full PS3 game trial.

If someone buys stuff regularly on PSN Store, PSN+ might be a interesting service. The first month has 88 dollars of value alone. For me, that only bought After Burner Climax and Joe Danger, it's not.

I'm quite satisfied with the free service. When i first tried playing Killzone2 online i thought it would be a lag hell, disconnections, server issues. Not only the experience is smooth and lag free, the multiplayer is fun and addicting.
Game patches / updates remain free.

Thanks Johnny. Now I understand. So basically it will be like Xbox live gold but with free goodies every month. In that respect it's better than gold because gold doesn't gie sways free goodies every month although there are a lot of video and interviews to watch with dev teams. Or at least there are on the Japanese version. I'm not sure if those videos greet subtitled for other markets.
