The Wii port is horrible to be honest. there's slowdown, there's dull graphics/bad textures there's long loading times the compilation disk is just wiiware thrown together and bound by another executable which shows and is hard to navigate, no unlockables the voice clips often get cut at their last letter The only reason I play this on the wii is because I don't have the Pc version really and I enjoy adventuring from the couch. A VERY lazy and bad port, shame.
Hey Barcode, I got a pair of tooth picks for your eyes if you'd like a pair! Ah, have you played Age of Empires at all? I use to play it on Lan it was alot of fun. Now I play COD4, but it an awful fasted paced game specialy on hardcore.
Well, today I was going to get Fallout 3 for the PC, but my POS fucking Ballistix RAM has kicked the bucket again, sending me to BSOD world 2-1. According to the Crucial dude last time, on P35 boards the sticks basically just burn out over time, so they gave me lower voltage ones. Same deal. Whatever...pain in the ass to wait for replacements for a week or two.
Sorry to go OT here, but how is the new Sam & Max games ( other than the fact that its a bad port to Wii), ive been wanting to try them but havent gotten around to it yet.
they're episodic for starters, which means that you ll navigate through the same environments time and time again for each season, albeit with modifications and expanded locales ranging from a theater to a TV-production studio etc. The game is not difficult if you're the type who likes some far-fetched but imaginative puzzles - it can be be harder than you expect though sometimes but you ll get it eventually. Overall it's a very enjoyable game and highly recommended (preferably on the PC I guess). That said, I can't compare it to the old Sam and Max games since I haven't played any of those.
Mr. Casual, Whats so good about fallout? special when we know Valve did such a good job on Half life that I doube anyone can compete.
I guess ill have to quit being lazy and give them a playthrough. You should really try to hunt down the original Sam & Max. Truly amazing ( from a writing point of view), although a little on the short side ( but werent all lucas arts point & clicks back in the day?).
Yeah, this is what I was going to say. Its a damn HUGE world, too, and is easily moddable. Well, it will be when they release an SDK for it. And they probably will, some day. If that isn't a recipe for a fun game experience I don't know what is.
I think games have surpassed HL1 and 2. I loved HL2 and hate 1...but I seriously don't think I'd name them if I had to pick 10 of my favorite games ever. My opinion of course.
Is this a joke which the forum has missed? Outside of the visual perspective, these games are pretty fundamentally different. HL1 was a masterpiece for the time and I still enjoy it, although I can't see many kids putting up with its idiosyncrasies today; it's a decade old, though, so comparing it to modern FPS games is like comparing Doom 2 to Doom 3. I think it's aged a lot better than most single-player FPS games of its age, either way.
I haven't looked it up, but there is no mention of Lucas Arts anywhere on the title. Why is that? btw, feel free to send me the old Sam and Max, bveause I live in Greece and well, let's say I ve NEVER seen that title in stores. (Full throttle CD version is in stores though, brand new, if anyone's interested)
The original Sam and Max: Hit the Road was developed and published by Lucasarts, and it's definitely on the box. There was a sequel planned by Lucasarts some 4 years ago but it got cancelled, and it was this cancellation, very late on in the development process, that spurred a bunch of the adventure game team over at Lucasarts (many of whom had been let go anyway) to found Telltale, who make the episodic Sam and Max games.
Well I never heard of sam & Max till now, Lol!!! Thanks guys! Looks as funny as hell, See the size of gun sam's carrying? Lol! Its something I would have missed, and had missed on the market, but cause I'am mainly a fps I probley wouldn't touch it, mostly likely anyways. As for ray: half life, it will never die! the graphics & Art were done extremely well. It won many, many awards. The only game that beat it was Wow and of course Gabe Newell mention that, and had mention he wished he could have pull in that many players, but I think if I'am right wow is an RPG game isn't it? and the ones I mention aren't, right? Valve has gone on to make more games that are quite popular like there cs source which was also very popular and more! many, many, people still play there cs source which is one of the best FPS on the market still. I found the graphics for fallout piss poor, story line seem interesting for the very short time I got to try it. I go to gaming cafes that have very good hardware, so there no excuse for the lousy graphics ie dull graphics, maybe its suppose to be like that but I didn't like that part of it. The software developers for Fallout would be very hard press to get a story line like half life or come up with anything close, I've played it for hours and with breaks I've play it for days. Half life is very good all round game, and has the awards to prove it, I haven't seen anything that'd beat Valves half life or cs source. I had to move on to COD4 cause I was looking for something a little different and found it in COD4 so far. Later folks!
I'm pretty sure Fallout 3 and Half Life are only similiar in that there both PC games... Does it actually look bad?
Fallout 3 has some really ugly and muddy textures in some areas. Theres already a high rez texture mod out there for the game though. The only textures that were noticeably bad for me were the newspapers on the ground. I know it takes place in a Nuclear Wasteland, but some of the indoor buildings look really really dirty, and the textures kinda suck in old style buildings. Other indoor areas look good, though. Its mainly the old buildings that look bad, and those bad newspaper covered textured floors look crappy. EDIT: Just did a quick google, and I found some cool stuff: Bethesda IS making an SDK (thank god) and they are naming it GECK with 3 other downloadable content things coming out: Operation: Anchorage: Enter a military simulation and fight in one of the greatest battles of the Fallout universe – the liberation of Anchorage, Alaska from its Chinese Communist invaders. An action-packed battle scheduled for release in January. The Pitt: Journey to the industrial raider town called The Pitt, located in the remains of Pittsburgh. Choose your side. Scheduled for release in February. Broken Steel: Join the ranks of the Brotherhood of Steel and rid the Capital Wasteland of the Enclave remnants once and for all. Continues the adventure past the main quest. Scheduled for release in March. I can't wait for the GECK. All of these downloadable contents sound awesome, as well, its like they are actually going to be worth the money, unlike horse armor.
Uh... what? You don't know whether WoW is an RPG or not? You want to compare it to Counterstrike? WoW is the most popular online game by a long shot, and they aren't even vaguely comparable. If you can't discern the massive difference between the games you mention then you really need to broaden your awareness. The only thing they share is the first person perspective.
I was talking about sales volume, Not anything else when comparing the two. WOW out solded Valve's 2 games and it was the only 1 on the market that did at that time. Valve did not take top slot in sales compare to WOW. It just happen to be, Gabe mention this during one of his interviews and I mention it here, thats all.
