I only had a short time between getting home & a bank of clouds rolling in, but I managed to get a few shots just before totality.
All I can say, is that I'm grateful for my neighbour's wall being just the right height/position to sit my camera+200mm lens on to get that shot! I had to give up on using the tripod, as it just wasn't stable enough to get a decent shot with the weight of the lens & low light levels...
Cool pics guys. I am just waiting on a call from my brother to hear 'how good it was' and that I should have got my ass down to his house. If he managed to get any good pictures I will post them on here.
I missed it due to heavy clouds Shame as i was going to try my sons telescope out as well, 500x zoom or something ridiculous like that, ah well, back to watching the neighbours getting undressed h:
Carrying on the 'Night Sky' theme, you might be interested in this. Apparently it is a meteor caught in the US on security cameras. http://www.bbc.co.uk/mediaselector/check/player/nol/newsid_7250000/newsid_7255600?redirect=7255695.stm&news=1&nbram=1&bbram=1&nbwm=1&bbwm=1&asb=1
Too many clouds here too. I've heard the next one will be in four years time in the news. I still remember the solar eclipse in 1999, there were people in every park around the city watching the sky. Some guy even burnt his retinas after staring more than 20 minutes directly at the sun.
I missed the thread but not the eclipse. It was snowing all day too - but clouds rolled out about an hour before it started, clear skies for the whole eclipse (well at least until totallity, I stopped checking after that) A very cool site indeed - really makes you feel small on a planet that can cast a shadow that big.
