of course, the original PC/Saturn/PSX versions were extremely lacking in the graphical department compared to REmake.
+1, Resident evil remake was just WAYYY better than the original, to say the least (and I mean it). I would love to see a FF7 remake... Yet I think we won't get one until... maybe...2014 ? ^^
For what I can see, most people calling for remakes of old and classic games tend to fall into the noob category, who didn't play the game when it was released and now dont want to get around to it because the graphics are way too outdated for them. However theres also a sizable amount of kids who were toddlers back in 1997, and they too have grown accustomed to HD graphics so its the same problem.
Hello everyone, I would enjoy a remake of FF7, however if they didn't remake it I would be okay with that. I think why so many people want it remade is because Square-enix has already shown that they can remake it. So now everyone wants them to remake it. Bye. :cur_sonic: :luigi:
I'm a huge FF7 fan, but I couldn't care less about a remake. I'd love to see a SEQUEL, or a prequel, or an offshoot, or something like that though. They've demonstrated that they can fit other games into that universe pretty elegantly. Crisis Core is an excellent example. Do something like that on PS3, a side story. Or, seeing as how Sephiroth can apparently just keep coming back, do a full-blown sequel, post FF:AC. Or just FINISH FF VERSUS XIII ALREADY!
It's my favourite game of all time. But I DON'T want a remake. The art direction they took with Advent Children and Crisis Core just didn't reflect FF7 at all in my eyes. It's like they took all the teen angst shit from FF8 and ploughed it into 7. The PS3 tech demo also followed suit. No thanks.
Pfft Final Fantasy. Now if we're talking a Skies of Arcadia sequel or re-release, then I'm all for it.
I'd rather have a FF VIII HD remake than FF VII, seriously. I am so tired of FF VII spin-offs that I would not spend time on replaying it, even if it has uber graphics. I already now how Cloud and his party would look like on current gen gfx... One thing though, Supernova and Knights of The Round would look so badass. FF VI ALL THE WAY!
Why do people always want games remade? I mean, I can see how they do, but they are building more hype for a game that was already a masterpiece to begin with! The only way I could see it "living up to the hype" would be if it was an exact replica, only updated graphics. But even then... remakes to me are pointless. FF7 was a great game, and if I got my PS1 out and played it, it would be just as great (minus a small amount due to the nostalgia factor). I always tell myself, "Damn, I wish they would remake Super Metroid... " But when I think rationally, I pray that they never do. I contradict myself, but I think my rational side is more.... Rational! ;-) Part of me hates remakes, and the other part of me wants my favorite games re-envisioned, but it just really isn't needed, and 99% of the time, the original will remain the better incarnation of the two. And I know its off topic, and that many will disagree, but things like the Ocarina of Time on the 3DS, that is just a poor excuse to shovel existing contents into the hungry mouths of people willing to pour their wallets out for a game that they might already own two times over. Why didn't they do a 3D remake of ALTTP? Anyway, final words. FF games are great, and they should remain remembered how they were originally released, infact, I would say FF7 is a game that so many people could name almost every character, tons of events, tons of locales, items, magic spells, whatever! Just always remember the origin of your love. /rant Also, re-reading over this topic, WanganRunner and Twimfy seem to follow a similar philosophy to me (not in anyway saying they will agree with my above paragraph though
Super Metroid looks, sounds and plays wonderfully. FFVII looks like utter crap everywhere except during FMV sequences, the music is pretty good, the controls are fine and the story is good as it stands but likely could use a better translation. The textures, models and so on are the fault of being first generation 3D on a first generation 3D console that looked like garbage even at the end of it's life span (shifting textures on a 3D model was always a pleasing view). So it could use a remake. The game looks like garbage.
While I see where you're coming from, I cant help but disagree, only because that is one thing that makes the game so charming for me. Simple graphics. Love the block hands. Love the cheesy FMV's, love the Jpeg like backgrounds. I think we can all agree that graphics are never what make a game, and it just proves it by how bad people can say FF7 looks even when it may be their favorite of all time.
I'm going with Yakumo and saying that FFVI was the pinnacle game of the series. It is easily the most deserving of a remake. It had a better story, better characters and a more fleshed out world.
