Why the shortage of GD-R discs?

    Definately exists, I had it once. Most probibally from some one from this board. Anyway, wasn't most DC work done on the dev box HD? Maybe GD-rs just weren't massed produced to the extent that every one expects...

    That is possible - The GD technology seemed to have been invented around 1997 so I guess discs would have been expensive. (1996 5x Saturn CD-Rs were like $75...) The dev Box HDD (GD-M) has the capability to emulate the GD Drive as images could be compiled with GD workshop to be tested - and many GD-Rs knocking about seem to be final or close to final builds of stuff which would suggest they were highly expensive (i think it was $650 for a spindle) but also only used as & when there was no other possible way to distribute the code such as for reviews. I guess there really isn't manyof them floating baout, which naturally makes me feel incredibly lucky :smt040
