They Came out with a new revised Unit Read This It is only 150 dollars at lik sang now LINKED The new revised unit fixed the joystick problem that they were having before and the newest version of the firmware for this handheld the boot time is down to 8 seconds ( compared to 40 ) . I personally own one and am impressed by the apps that come out for it everyday . But what really makes me happy is the full speed Neo Geo with sound In my pocket . You can read about the emulators in the review . But if you are a real retro gaming fan and you want a way to bring all those consoles on the road . This bad boy is the only way to go .
I have a 2gig and a 512 meg . I have the 512 just dedicated as my gngeo card . And it holds eveything i need . Did I mention TV out ?? Yeah well you can just plug this into any TV with S-Video . And go to town .
You get like 4 hours on good rechargables . Rechargeble AA's are so cheap now . I keep 3 sets in reserve . (Yeah there is no differeence in the new version )
if they ever make it a bit slimer and with rechargable battery... also... that golden thing going on.... i will buy one.
Friend bought one..I had some time with it. The on off switch was REALLY cheezy and felt like it could break. It was way too easy to flick on and off as well. Overall it felt like crap.
As far as commercial games if you look at the bottom of the page on the first link you will see the two they have set projects for . Vektar is coming out in a couple of weeks and the gta style one is slated for summer .
Not a fan of that review. Everything was sooo amazing when alot of it was not. Other then not having the ghosting issues, I can get most of everything else on my psp. Not to mention I dont want to go back to a system that doesnt use a Lith-ion battery packs.
I've to agree with paulo on the bad industrial design. The design is even worst than the original one in GP32. They should've used a clamshell layout like the GBASP or the DS. An internal HDD would be cool too, imagine having the entire 8bit and 16bit generations in your pocketh: BTW, I heard of this project called "Ñjoy". It's supposed to be a beefed up sucessor to the GP32. It runs Linux and uses the SH3 "dreamcast on a chip" so basically this thing could emulate N64, PSX and be compatible with the DC library.
The Dreamcast wouldnt be compatible with it or at least thats what the last chat people had about it (sh3) worked out.
The serial is SH307alotofnumbers, but is the same SH4 and VR than the ones on Dreamcast, even a little more powerful.
silly question I know - can you plug in a joystick via the USB port to this? would be amazing to have a mini neo geo - or one you could hook up and play with a proper joystick on the TV (I like the idea of doing this with a portable rather than a modded xbox - coz this thing is small)
Yes you can Hook up controllers via usb on the ext port . They already have plug and play controllers working and some devs are working on porting other drivers over , like the xbox controller one etc.
I'm sold. If it doesn't have the ghosting of the PSP screen (I'm not picky about that sort of thing, but I definitely noticed it) and does everything I wanted a PSP for, then I'm going to be ordering one next week. Homebrew Duke Nukem 3D and Doom on a handheld is just far too tempting for me to resist .
Could you plug in 2 controllers and play multiplayer games on the TV too? (would make a decent Retro console).. :katamari2
