I had my first DC die on me after 6 months so I sent it to Sega (this was before the US or PAL system was released) for a free repair. One week later it came back and has never faulted me once except for when this room hits 33 degrees then the DC just shuts down due to the heat but then again the PC takes a fit then as well So its fan or aircon time Yakumo
I'm using a US version (I have two, actually), and neither have failed me. My Xbox is prone to overheating, though. The PSTwo (slim) seems fine so far.
I'm on my second dreamcast because my sister broke the first one - but both have a pretty sturdy build - I can vouch for that. PS2, now, that's a delicate system. PSX however was a war machine that could withstand serious punishment. At least the version before it came with the analogue controllers. I still have my 1996 PSX working - though now it works about 50% of the time and skips. I wish I could say that about my PS2.
my DC had overheating problems, but since I blew the insides out with a compressed-aircan it's been doin a lot better.. dustball the size of a mouse came out, pretty nasty... US launch-day PS2 has horrible overheating problems (like, overheats in round 9 of every goddamn fight in Fight Night), GC overheats now and then (Eternal Darkness was the biggest offender so far).. no problems with the XBOX.
no problems with any of my systems really *knock on wood* unless I drop them. I dropped my GC once (it was in a padded bag) and it needed to be replaced. Replacement has never given me problems. Fat PS2 only ever gave me DRE's with a Game Shark V2 but it always worked after a couple tries.
