I agree. These people who throw their controller, smash others on the face and so on are just complete idiots ! Do they lack simple motor functions or something? My Wii straps are still wrapped up at the bottom of the remote because they simply are NOT NEEDED ! Maybe a little kid might need them because their hand can't fit around the remote but anyone else.....? The world is just full of think twats

Funny you should mention that Yakumo. I took the strap off mine with the same thoughts in mind as you. What I didn't expect though was that my 3 year old niece would want to play bowling on Wii Sports. First attempt at bowling and whoosh... That kid sent the controller flying with more force than a MLB fastball. Thank God my new TV was placed higher up than she is or it would have been toast. Lesson of the day. Little kids need Wii straps. She did get a strike that time though.

Nintendo should just pack in a roll of Duct Tape with every Wii.

I partly agree, but Nintendo's main market, despite how much they are trying to extend it, is predominantly kids - young teens. I am guessing the way teens fling their limbs around and pause in dramatic poses (?!) to keep their cool image up has something to do with the cord snap issue and something Nintendo didn't fully appreciate when they designed the system.

Won't anybody think of the children? Wargh!

Joking aside, I wonder if Nintendo test this kind of thing in Japan only, or if they have teams working in each country?

I feel this may have more to do with claiming insurance for cheap shitty ancient CRT TV's and LCD TV units that the purchaser decided isn't as good as their mates new top of the range LCD TV. Perhaps I should buy one and see just how hard I have to throw the remote at the projector to damage it and claim house contents insurance! Hmmm?

Mine are both used fully...the main reason is so that the kids when playing get into the hang of using it all the time, just to be on the safe side.

Also I spoke to Nintendo in the UK yesterday and they said the BBC news flash was completely wrong and is not to be beleived (huge recall), but they do have an e-mail address for CODESTORM (UK PR Agent) to apply for a free heavier duty strap if required

To be honest I also keep using it..................but only for Wii Sports...occasional Wii Play....but Zelda, GT Pro and 4X4 not.....perhaps for Rayman I may do as looks like you could get carried away ;-)

As stupid as it may sound, nintendo is doin the right thing.

The other day I was talking to a marketing guy from toyota. The thing is, toyota didnt become a market leader becos their products were excelent, but becos they would recall them based on any defects, while ford let the pinto go around even when they knew it could explode...

So is better for nintendo to have the image of a quality freak ratter than a couple kids with bruises in their faces...

That and the fact that a Toyota will last a few hundred thousand miles as long as you change the oil regularly.
