Check out the nice floortexture on this zelda screen: http://www.jeux-france.com/images3_4_17982.html Looks kinda crap to me??
considering that the bow is set to the B-button, this shot is from a version far in development. They won't change it. You seem surpised, but keep in mind that this is just another gamecube title essentialy (although I doubt that even the future Wii-original Zelda will have any significant differences, assuming they ll start the engine from scratch, which knowing nintendo, they wont - they ll tweak the existing one)
Considering the size of the title, I'm surprised that it ended up looking as good as it does. With the Wii's dvd discs it will surely fit onto one of those, however, How Nintendo manages to squeeze this title onto a single gc disc is beyond me Ryan
I wonder if the GC version will actually look better than the Wii version? Since its a GC port, it might be possible. The Far Cry Wii port screenshot looks like it came from a N64 game after all. I guess the Wii is better off not doing ports, since all the port screenshots look like crap to me.
Do you ever know what a n64 game looks like? We'd have killed for a game that looks as good as Wii's FarCry on N64. I do agree though, what the hell is up with the ubber stretched texture?
Ok, maybe a high end N64 game or a low end GCN game. It doesnt look as good as the Xbox version, and the Wii is a next generation console. Something ain't right.
Damn they put too much detail on the character and now the level looks like something from Mario64 In the timeline, yes, in the technical specs, nope, cause y'know, is an overcloked gamecube...
its a clocked up gamecube. Which means it doesnt do many of the things that the original XBOX did, since the gamecube couldn't do them either.
The edges are ALOT smoother now. I remember seeing an earlyer build at the 2005 comic con running on an hd screen adn the edges were really pixaleted/jaggy.
thats because its a port of a game that relies heavly on pixel shaders. Something the Gcn/Wii does not do. It takes time to rewrite all the shaders into something compatible for the Gcn/Wii. Seriously nintendo screwed up by not upgrading the gpu. It's lack of pixel shaders will really kill it on any multi platform game.
Indeed, how difficult/expensive would be to slap a G5 inside that thing? And the Wii still lacks the velocity engine, right? what a waste...
Since a G5s never been in anything smaller than an iMac, pretty damn difficult. Ever wonder why there was never a G5 powerbook? too small to dissipate the heat.
the whole point of sticking GC compliant hardware in the Wii was to reduce RnD costs, ensure 100% accurate backward compatibility (it's not running emulated gamecube titles, it's natively running them), and make the use of existing development tools possible - greatly reducing costs from all sides. On the down-side, the technology is 6 years behind. It's the same type of step they took from GB classic to GB color really.
Well if they are smart they won't let Wii go too long before they get a new console ready that is more modern. While the DS is destroying the PSP despite its inferiorness, it's also because the PSP has no great games. That's not true of other consoles such as Xbox 360. I totally agree they should have added some shaders or other capabilities to the GPU. I don't like the idea of recycling the GC's heart. But it really is all about if they games are fun and well polished. Can't wait to see how things look in a year or so.
Wii can be connected to an HDTV to render EDTV images. HDTV sets are capable of 480p. Whether they upscale the signal or not, depends on the set and my mood on mondays.
I'm aware of that, and I remember how IBM had this mobile G5 with the heat issues fixed, yet apple already had a deal with Intel to change their Macs from PPC to X86. Plus is binary compatible with the G4, so no prob with GC games. But the G4 is still far cheaper, specially if it is the same crappy one with no VE. Its obvious ninty wants to make a killing on the machine alone...
