Wii Play broke Mario 3's record sales???!!!!

Why? Here it's about the number of copies sold, not how much money they made.

 

I don't think console pack-in titles should count in sales records. It's not like you have a choice not to buy the game, so it distorts records quite a bit: if Ninjabread Man was packaged with every Wii, it would be one of the best selling games ever :110:

That being said, why did the Japanese buy that many copies of Wii Sports? It's not a pack-in in Japan, and it's not that great of a game either..although I gotta admit I was one of the many people who bought Wii Play because it came with a Wiimote. Played it maybe once or twice, crap.

I think counting pack in games with copies sold should have an asterix or some special consideration, compared to games sold on their own.
