Yeh, I wouldn't be suprised if Merrill Lynch is right on this one like they were when they predicted that the price of the PS3 could be from $500-$600.

    Heres the link:

Looks like every console Nintendo released always started at $200.

NES/SNES/N64/GC were all $200... it would surprise me if it wasn't the same price, or even below that.

I didn't even think of that. I'd have to agree.

199 is the sweet spot, considering the price of the 360/ps3, 200 is easy to swallow..

I'd forgotten that. Ah, if the Wii is $200, that will make me and my wallet happy. :katamari2

GC launched at $199 and that didn't necessarily translate into better sales in the long run. Sometimes being the "value leader" isn't the best thing.

Ya, but GC had some bad design flaws and launched under the old Nintendo president. I think at the present time people would enjoy paying less for new entertainment.

I imagine the 200$ price tag is right for the Wii. It seems to be how Nintendo has always done it. I know I'm interested in getting one.

Yeah, but the Gamecube was almost the same price of the Xbox and the PS2.

If the Wii goes for $200, that would be half the price of the Xbox360 and 3 times less than the PS3.

People can choose to buy the Wii first and think: PS3? Xbox360? Nah.. Maybe later when they're cheaper or maybe a used one at ebay...

for 200 USD I'd sure get one. That's not even close to expensive !! I must waste more than that every month these days. Wii for me :love2: NOw what colour should I get. Hmm, the black looks sexy but then again the white looks good too.

But yes, if the Wii is anywhere near £150 I'll jump on it :-D

20'000 yen? is that the official price? If it is I'm going to buy one with at least 5 games !(if there are 5 I want).

Well I believe that it won't be hard picking , for me at least. I m already concerned with the amount of games I saw and liked, and how it will reflect on my budget.
I believe the following will kick ass (in my opinion at least)

    Zelda: Twilight Princess (Wii edition)
    Metroid Prime 3
Excite Truck (Haven't played an arcade game like that in years)
Mario Galaxy (I doubt they'd launch the title day and date with the console since there's Zelda and Metroid, even if the game is done)
Red Steel (not certain yet, must look in depth)

Also with 5 to 10 bucks a game for Virtual Console, with 10 or 5 of those games you have the price of a standard retail game. As such I will avoid getting any virtual console games unless it's something like F-zero X+Xpansion kit which i doubt.:033:

If ninty manage to launch with the over 20 -odd games they promised, this could be an amazing launch. Also if they sold it for 20000 yen and the games slightly below average at 5800 they would shift a vast amount of games.

So instead of a 60000 (20gb PS3) I would be scoring a Wii with 7/8 games! That is a truly significant difference in price.

It is really nice to hear people actually being enthusiastic about the next gen. I hear people saying I will "have" to buy a PS3 to play FFXIII. Where as people really want to part with the money for Wii.

I'll gladly plunk down the $200, plus at least one "retro" controller, a few launch games, and some VC software.

I wish Super Mario Galaxy was going to be a launch title.....but oh well.

Man, I want to play that Tennis game real bad, Trauma Center too. I hope they make an iron chef game (it'd be so easy).

Even I can afford that, if I save for a couple of months beforehand.
I'm getting one if it's at that price range. Of course, not at launch day (mexican prices take a bit to not be extraordinarily inflated - so it'll launch for 450 dollars here, more or less, if it's 200 up there), but when it reaches its fair price... it's mine.

Gives me time to save for accesories, too.
