Don't forget the possibility of buying the old games (Virtual Console). I think that Nintendo has a very good opportunity to teach a lesson to MS and Sony.

I think the virtual console is a great feature, but I will always prefer having real carts, artwork and "condition" to obsess over! I will buy a couple of games for the Virtual Console, especially for the more expensive famicom and SFC games I don't have. However if a game is under a tenner for the real thing I will always buy that instead.

I will also use the virtual console to buy a bunch of the SFC RPGs again. Simply so that I can save with some degree of reliability!

Anyway, on topic, if Nintendo can get a decent back catalogue available on launch day, that is going to add more fuel to the fire. Maybe they could stick a free game in the console at launch like Super Mario Brothers (?) or something natsukashi to get people in the mood to spend a couple of quid. I really like the way all Wii's features relate to gaming. Even the online service is mostly about the games.

+ Nintendo have shown with the DS that in the gaming market (and beyond) you don't need all the multimedia features of the PSP to win over a crowd. If I can draw the analogy - PSP = all singing and dancing multimedia device = PS3. DS = innovative control, cheap, mainly games = Wii.

I agree with you. It's a lot better to have the "real thing". But for the so called "casual gamers" this could be a great feature. Some people don't care about collecting games, they just want to play.

As soon as pre-orders go up... I'm there. Hell, I may pre-order to entire launch line-up too! And still have money left over to buy games I already own on various other consoles but want to play on the Wii for reasons I don't understand as well.

Yeah if it's a bit different and quirky I'm in for 20,000 yen. Seems like a bargain...

I totally agree with that. I pretty much hate the idea of paying for a game and not recieving a hard medium like a Cartridge or Disc. I enjoy looking at my shelf with my NES cartridges stacked up. Or that caddy full of SNES cartridges. Sure it takes up alot of space but I prefer that over some virtual/electronic form. Besides, if it's just a file on some SD card, I already have access to emulators and roms, why would I want to pay for emulation.
