So how much did you buy it for? Just as a warning, Nintendo have started monitoring assembler as well as just ebay so it may be better not to advertise finds like this so blatatntly. I'm just saying because it's all property of Nintendo, even that one right there and they can take it away quite legally I'm afraid.

Have you used it yet? They are a pain to use and I don't like how there's no home menu either, just that text which is not exactly user friendly.

** I'm not meaning to troll or scare you, would just hate to see it taken from you if you paid a lot for it! **

You work for Nintendo? Awesome
It's about having rare hardware and be happy about it, not the comfort. :110:
Wait, a developer or a company pays a shitload of money to get development hardware and it's still "Property of Nintendo"? so that they can take it away?
    That sucks!

No offence but that's none of your business really.

Started? Heh, I've seen them hanging around places like this since 2001 and I've flaunted my dev stuff for well over 6 years now, and I think I'll continue doing so (See my avatar!) :)

Nah, it's my property now. I might even bring it to E3 next summer to have Iwata sign it just for laughs :D NOA Legal peeps doesn't really get to go to E3 though, shame as there are some people from that department that I'd like to meet up with.

But anyway here's a nice riddle to solve if you happen to work for NOA anti-piracy/legal: Would You Be able to call me? I'm on ext. 99 :)

there is also a sytem menu like the one for retail consoles for dev consoles, you change between them any time (If you got the image with the system menu installer).

Yeah I don't have that menu on mine at the moment.

But, jeez you lot are sensitive!! jealous? Nintendo legal? Fuckin hell calm down they were all just straight up comments. Now I gotta go through and back them up.

OK, so no, I'm not jealous of one dev kit wii - I've got a drawer full of them and countless of the green guys strewn around thanks. Also got the NDEV black box but forgot to get a picture of that before I left:

No, don't be assish and say I work for Nintendo. Whilst I love them I don't work for NOE. If you don't believe me trace the IP and you'll see it's London. Nintendo UK are just marketing. All the dev stuff comes outta Germany. Or the states or NOJ.

I won't attempt childish riddles but would a Nintendo office have PS3 dev kits and 360 too? Doubt it, plus they wouldn't have to wriote stupid post it notes on them either but just to really hammer down the point if it's necessary:

So please try to give me a little benefit of the doubt and not straight up accuse me of being some legal pest.

I actually don't care what is revealed online, I simply wanted to try and be a little helpful so you could avoid a real situation that happened to an ex colleague.

Basically Shiggsy my good man, what happened was - a then colleague left the developer I was at and took a few bits of kit with him. I think he'd actually paid for half of them anyway which was the main point.
Problem is, you never really 'BUY' these bits from NOE, you pay insane costs to lease them and promise to return them. It's legally binding. That Big fat sticker on the bottom of your Wii, is it still there?

Nintendo now keep extremely tight tabs on their list and every single one is logged and recorded so if and when they show up on the grey market (if you can call it that) they know what region it's from, which developer/publisher it was sent to and who to contact for it.

What happened in that case is that my friend's kit went up on ebay, Nintendo saw - kept an eye on it and then managed to get it back of the buyer as stolen goods after they paid for it. My friend also got a fine among other things and it caused a lot of shit at the time.

It's like if you buy a stolen car, the police can still take it off your hands whether you've paid or not so saying 'it's my property' when it's got a whole bunch of crap in saying othewrwise will not help your cause.

Don't get me wrong, Nintendo are not gonna try and trace your IP and come and get it from you but let's say, hypothetically that they one day did turn up at your place with a warrant and all that kit is on your desk they could legally take it and you'd really struggle to get it back. My point was just be aware of these situations because that is exactly how it went down.

It may be different where you are, but please just see that I was trying to warn of a slight but horrible fate and nothing more, no legal bollocks.

I can understand that because I'm a 2 post lurker it may have seemed off but I actually wanted to talk about how you could use the kit for fun stuff etc. I'm not a coder so I'm not the most familiar person, hence why I was hoping to find out a little more about using them too.

After an essay/rant can you please believe me now and see I'm just another forum user looking to learn more and talk about some of this stuff! :)

sorry for the stupid large pics but being called some sort of Nintendo bailiff just pissed me off, point made I hope. Might grab some other interesting things tomorrow if I don't get bashed even more for going OTT. There's better stuff than Wii RVTs around you know.

I would, but I don't exactly own it fully!! Call it shared between me and the other partners if you may.
Anyway, I didn't mean to hi-jack this thread but at least some people maybe saw some stuff they might not have. The PS3 developer units are crazy money - heck the PS3 tests cost 3X what a slim does and they're nothing special.

Hmm not sure why you think they are fake - I just put the post-its where I thought they would be visible with my crappy camera phone. Obviously I had to black out certain bits. Having said that, I just can't help myself..

    FAKE.

    There, that feels better.

Anyway you'll notice the pictures are gone for now, I was getting too many random PMs asking for stuff.

I've never actually played LBP though, I certainly didn't work on it. I might work in London but there's a ton of devs that do and we're not high enough profile really right now to guess from a pic of a PS3.

Also, I know zilch about the Sony and MS stuff as I don't really use it and certainly don't find it as exciting. My only complaint with Nintendo dev kit is that it's so DIY to work with and not user friendly at all unlike the MS hardware.

It was a drawer full of dev hardware. Much like you'd see at an office. ;)

    Basically, lots of cool toys.
