So, after reading bushing's post about the Startup disc wii(http://global.ebay.com/AS-IS_BROKEN_Nintendo_Wii_Console_for_PARTS_REPAIR/260620758358/item). on ebay, I started to look for them too. I recently found that same wii on ebay from the same seller.(http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=280544535755&ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT) I was suspicious. So, I asked him why he was relisting that wii. He claimed that the previous winner had not paid. I then started to watch the auction and eventually won it. It arrived today in the mail. MORE TO FOLLOW!
I'll try that friday. Sorry for the messy cabinet and the odd ending. I was trying to unplug the wii as proof that I was not faking the video, but was unable to do so with one hand. And I was so excited that I did not tidy up before filming.
So how did you find the Wii? Did you look at every new broken wii listing? Ebay search for wii startup disc returns nothing for active and completed listings. Anyway, nice find. Do you plan to get the Wii to Bushing to look at?
Neat; next step would be to either solder an Infectus up to it to dump the NAND and install BootMii, or maybe solder in a modchip and create some autoboot nand-dumping disc (or better yet, bootmii-installing...). I'd be happy to give it a shot, if you'd like.
awesome find:thumbsup: also i wounder if that's a prototype, i never seen any wii with that message and tell us what nintendo says when you asked for the disk i wounder what they would say lol
I plan on sending it to Bushing. He knows the wii much better than I do. I sent him a PM yesterday explaining the situation, but he has not felt the need to yet grace me with a reply. + N
BUSHING: Please check you PM's. The situation has changed significantly. The Wii will be sent to you as soon as I can drop it in the mail. I just need an address and some sort of real correspondence from you. Thanks. + N
Obviously its something like that: It either does install the system menu on the Wii or does some final setup modifications to the Wii but we will see...
Ahh so basically this Wii sort of missed the part where they install the systems menu functions. Be interesting to see if the disk turns up in the future.
Have you tred contacting bushing through the hackmii blog?:- http://hackmii.com/ He often responds to comments on his posts. Also, its likely Nintendo would want you to send the Wii in for repair:- http://www.nintendo.com/consumer/systems/wii/en_na/ts/gameDiscs.jsp#insertStartUp But you may as well try and ask for the Startup Disk ;-)
