Dude you are right in the marketing trap... Both X360 and PS3 look a lot like their past versions (specially the PS3) BUT on the inside both systems are tottally different. So much that theres no backwards compatibility, but emulation... The Wii is an overhauled GC, period. Yet it doesnt means it has to be dirt cheap like the GC...
Im sorry but I think you are wrong. If the Wii wouldn't had an innovative controller it would be a mokked up GC. Wii brings something that's called innovation. PS3 doesnt. Nor XBOX. At least not until now. You know why I lost interest in gaming? Because all games, at a certain point, look more or less the same. And that camed right off the PSX/N64 era. The PSX was a true innovation. The SNES was. The NES was. But not the PS3. If one day it turns out that the PS3 with its incredible horsepower can open up black holes, well then it will innovate. But up to now, it just seems like a mokked up PS2 to me. And thus rather unintresting.
I could not have said it any better myself! There was nothing to look forward to after the NGC, PS2, XBOX era. The only upgrade was "better graphics," nothing comparable to upgrades of previous consoles, from NES/Master System to SNES/Genesis, Nintendo 64 & Playstation, etc... If the Wii is released around that price, I would definately buy myself one.
I was talking about the internals of each machine. The Wii CPU and GPU are mere upgrades of the GC's ones. Is like if instead of the PS2 sony came to the party with a PSX with an overcloked CPU, more VRAM, AA built-in and a 8X drive. Is the Wii innovative? hell yeah, but the internals are not...
