looking forward to seeing what the Japanese box art looks like. Of course it will better, thats a given. haha!
Usually the box design somewhat matches the console design. This seems random considering what we've seen so far.
I'm not a fan of the colors to be honest. I also wish they didn't reuse the GC style heading, but rather make something new. I'm fine with GC style logo, but just preferred to see something new.
The blue DVD cases look nice, but the overall cover design is uninspired to say the least. They just copied GameCube design 1:1, absolutely boring. I also have to point out that the NSMB U-cover looks godawful.
Gamecube looked classier. For a console (despite the name) that's being touted as Nintendo's return to the "core gamer", it looks a little playskool-ish. And I agree, I've said that since the first time I saw it.. the yellow is jarring. But what's worse is the teal. Unless the disc tray light is a darker color this time around, the blues won't really match between what's on the system, what's on the case, and for that matter the Wii U logo.. which is NOT teal. I do like the idea of colored cases, though. The white cases between the 3DS and Wii have been getting stale.
They should do what they did with the famicom and not have a standardized case color or box art. Let every publisher have their own style.
I like the blue (not really the yellow, but ok...)...but I don't get the blue if the console itself is either black or white? So the box in it's blue looks more childish to me than the Wii games...They should have chosen black, it worked well on the PAL N64 and SNES boxes and I always liked it.
