Hey guys just thought I would share this in case Nintendo plans do do similar things in other countries. Just got back from my local Toys R Us , where I bought 2x Wii U 32GB Black Premium consoles for R2000 in total , this works out to a bit less than $110 per console. This all started two days ago when some one posted what they reported to be a possible fault on Toys R Uses website where they were selling Wii U 32GB Premium consoles at $110, it ran for about a hour and every one jumped on it, crashing the website, when it came back up the Wii U consoles disappeared from there website,so we just thought that it was some form of a bad entry, they did honor the price and lots of people got there consoles delivered yesterday. Tuesday afternoon there was a leek on one of the local gamer forums of a advert from Toys R Us with Wii U consoles at the exact same price, set to be released today 30th of April, this is where I bought my consoles, meaning the above was not a fluke or a mistake. They had about 12 consoles in stock at each store and there's approximately 25 stores nation wide,so it was quite a lot of stock to move in one day. Incredible connection, South Africas largest computer and accessories store yesterday allso had a fire sale on there website for R1000 this lasted about 37 mins and lots of consoles were sold, now selling for R4700 / or Approx $470, incredible connection has no relation to Toys R Us, and is a completely separate company. Interesting thing though, our other big retailers like "Mass Mart" which consists of Game, Dions, and Makro, and is 50% owned by Wallmart (from the U.S) removed all there Wii U consoles from there websites yesterday, "BT Games" Allso dont have the Wii U Console listed any more, if they have any future plans for a mass fire sale later on, or to sell the stock slowly and make a huge markup, I have no idea. I talked to the manager of Toys R Us who told me that the core group (Nintendo distributor in South Africa) actually sold ALL of there stock to them, thats why it was so cheap, Core group did respond that its not dropping the nintendo license for South Africa so no one knows if its there doing or if Nintendo is pulling the plug on Wii U sales in South Africa. I have no idea what the implications are going to be internationally and there is a chance that there might be other Wii U fire sales happening in Countries where the system is doing poorly. PS To put in perspective a Wii costs roughly R1299 ($130) and the new Wii-Mini Costs R1400 ($140)
WOW $110,- for a brand new Wii U, that's a pretty sweet deal. It is however pretty disturbing news for Nintendo fans...
Trust me it never happens here either , just couldnt believe it when I saw it, and jumped on it, normally were allways !@#@! over by nintendo on pricing...
That's crazy. I have relatives in South Africa.. Just wondering what region it would be though. Like would it have a dedicated SA store or would it just use the UK one or something?
Funnily enough, that's a German rating grade on the box.... Pretty low prices indeed! PS half of your theres are theirs. There. (also, it's May here) :loyal:
There all 100% Pal, we actually use "Australian consoles" but honestly I wouldnt chance it with the shipping, shipping here is extremely expensive and things get lost easily Sadly from what I understand there all sold out, I will keep my eyes open when this happens again, and pick a few others up and see if I can get it to UK, AU or Eur a family member of mine is a pilot he doesn't fly that rout but probably knows some one who does.
What do they use giraffes or something? Don't they know that elephants would be a better choice since they never forget?
Looks like it's just a supermarket chain promotion with really nothing to do with Nintendo. The same thing happens with bluray players, etc... May I ask, is this sentence right? I mean, can this word be used in this situation? (Instead of "They are" or "They're") I've seen a lot of this kind, but I don't know if it's correct. I think it's a slang. I don't know 'cause I've never lived in an english talking country. =)
Oh, I had not seen his message. Thank you! I thought "Their" was possessive. "their eyes are blue"... Well, I should go back to english classes, I'm really rusty. n.n
Their is possessive, in those cases "They're all 100% PAL" and "They're all sold out" would've been correct.
well spotted must have missed that in the title, £149.99 for the basic is still the cheapest around (UK) i think and they are in stock which is the other good thing (or at least they were when i originally posted)
Interesting that you get Australian consoles. I remember them shipping stuff over here once before and it taking foreeeeeever to get here. My uncle's company paid for it but he said it was super expensive and he wouldn't have bothered if they weren't going to pay. Phone calls to SAfrica (pre-internet at least) cost a bomb too.
