So when do we get the Windows ME upgrade? And if it became more functional and stable on 3DS than real PC hardware I would lose it.
Its not a port, its dosbox. So running Windows 95 is hardly news. The real news is the DosBox port that gets a brief mention.
The New 3DS must be very powerful. Can the Playstation 4 or Xbox One have Windows 95 ? The answer is no and the reason is obvious, they are not powerful enough.
I'm not sure the 3DS can run it,especially since ME has problems running on Dosbox. I would rather say it has more chances to work on either a 3DS QEMU port,or a BOCHS port. I'm still looking into porting it to the original Xbox though, using the old XDSL/98Lite port. I've temporarily hit a dead end - display adapter driver gives code 23 (with the Cirrus Logic 5446 PCI driver, strangely works under 98 SE) and both IDE channels are nowhere to be found in the device manager section. I took a break lately on it,as I was working on a custom BOCHS port for the Android, which currently runs flawlessly - ATC-6100 Award BIOS,98SE and loads of RAM. One last quirk I got to fix is enable the quick POST feature using modbin, then it's good to go. I'm working right now to see if I can fix the ME image so I can run it on the Xbox. Something tells me switching to a modified BOCHS would work better (since I told it to use a Award BIOS bin file) so stay tuned.
What do you think ? Anyway, it's very nice to see the 3ds have some proper homebrew and hacks/mods. The past year has been just amazing for the 3ds, in my opionion it's one of the best handhelds ever. Homebrew and hacks made the PSP truly great and it's helping the 3ds as well.
I wonder if the 3DS DOSBOX port is stable enough to run Nesticle. It would be fun to relive the early days of NES emulation on the go. Maybe even fire up Mario Improvement 3 for a pseudo Mario Maker replacement. lol
Much like loading Windows 95 on the 3DS, to see if it could be done. There would be no practical reason for doing so.
