http://blog.us.playstation.com/2008/09/15/wipeout-hd-officially-dated-priced/ Eurogamer review 9/10 http://www.eurogamer.net/article.php?article_id=238638
yeah, but it's a bloody download Am I the only person who'd prefer the actual hard goods in my hand? It's like artists releasing their new albums as download only. What ever happened to the days of looking through the CD booklet or even older, the LP Jacket? Man, All of this digital download stuff is a way backwards in my eyes. It may be easier to get but what happens when you upgrade hardware? Where's the game or song then? Yakumo
sadly i have no ps3 i love the serie, i have them ALL even double copies (saturn/ps) but the ps3 is bloody too costy so far... :/
I cannot identify myself with these new WipEout titles. Pure was a nice game, but it was so boring and with really bad music. The most played games of my life are WipEout and WipEout 2097 (XL). I still play them regularly. Here are some of my skills (always with qirex). http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u-FJcqRyiZE http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VN1pbYz_rOo The new WipEout titles are jokes in difficulty. It's not a thrill anymore, the tracks are too narrow and boring, the ship designs are boring, too much style, the sound is weak. And the remixed tracks of old WipEout tracks - no sir, the old ones look better. WipEout is not a hard and evil racer for professionals anymore.
I actually hated the whole download-concept a few years ago. But now I actually like downloads. Less loading times and no disc swapping, thats just great. (However I do hate "over the top" DRM, like with GT Prologue... I can only play the download when Im connected with PSN!!!)
i started with wipeout, and IMHO until the ps2 ones they are all masterpieces. i won't say anything about the psp ones since i don't own them. in any case my friend, there's online now so you can show your skills.
I don't own an XBox360 or PS3. I don't like them also. But my dream is of course to play WipEout online, to be part of a Qirex community. But you got a point there, buying a PS3 is maybe an option.
I m really looking forward to this. The guys at Wavetree Technology Park have done it again - lovely bunch, ever since they were Psygnosis!
I do completely support your critics and I don't see why I shall spend money on things I can only scroll through. As far as Wipeout goes, I was never really thrilled about these titles. They are fast, yeah, but I always thought F-Zero was quite a lot faster and way more exciting. Plus it was "rougher" somehow, it felt more like a hard future racer to me. The new one looks pretty boring to me, where's the radiant atmosphere such a title should have? Sterile cities, no life, no nature (like in F-Zero GX), not much at all. Most of the tracks were recycled PSP content, so I'm not too excited to play them either. In fact, the most interesting part about this game are the psychodelic-coloured screenshots above which are actually new to me, may I ask if that is a special mode or something?
Actualy PS3 is better then other consoles about what you buy digitaly. You can download most software on up to 5 ps3 units and if you plan to ditch your system and get another, you can always release the account on your ps3 which gives you back the license which in turn you can then reaquire when you have your new system. Also know Sony of Japan & Sony of Europe, I exspect this to be on bluray in the near future. (Siren was on bluray for HK, Ratchet Quest for Booty is on UMD in Europe and I think HK/JP might also get it).
I was going to criticize for the exact same thing. A 15mb game it's okay to be download only. But a classic like this? Shame on you Sony. Thank god i managed to get Gran Turismo HD on bluray release (Japan only) This whole digital world is making me sick. PS: Wipeot is great, Wipeout XL is fantastic and Wipeout 3, amazing!
You see, I just think it's stupid making it download-only - I'm sure plenty people would buy it on a disc without issue. In my opinion, that's just greedy. Also, I so so so wish that you could get that eval copy as a retail item - it may have swayed me to the 'dark side' (don't worry, it's just a reference to the colour )
Now that is more like it. Come on everyone, doesn't that look a lot better than some file on your console? Yakumo
downloads suck! i want the actual disc, too! and DRM sucks! how are you going to play gt5 prologue in some years when PSN is gone?
Like many prototype games in recent years, they have a key dongle that plugs in. If it's not in, the game refuses to play. I thought the first few pics of this game were nasty looking. The track was a flat color... no texture at all. I haven't played Wipeout yet but I'll probably play the PS1 game someday. While I think Downloaded games are nice since you can do it all at home and in theory play it sooner than if you ordered it and it was mailed to you, I'd much rather have a disc and case. That tin with the Wipeout in it looks sweet.
Maybe is a usb key with info, etc New review, ign uk 9.2. http://ps3.ign.com/articles/910/910419p1.html
