the same goes with many kids in Denmark they got a stamp in the back of the head with Asbergers Syndrome and they are not ASérs they are just fuckedup kids that got a popdiagnose since one of our best mathemathic geniouses in Denmark can talk about wormholes like Stephen Hawkins can and none of them are irritating fuckedup kids with a popdiagnose stamp on the back of their head.

  2. Glad I'm not the only one who thinks a variety of 'psychological disorders' are either the fault of the parents, the individual, or both. We're just so happy these days to go to the shrink, have a name slapped on whatever the hell is wrong with us, and be on our way with our high-powered prescription drugs.

Personally, I think that lady should have gotten life behind bars. Assuming the 'voices in her head' thing was true, why the fuck would you still do it? I'm agreeing with Mr. Casual that the whole insanity bit seems like too much of a convenient cop-out at times.

ADD is an excuse to prescribe Ritalin :).

I say the woman is fucking sick whether she was hearing voices or not (I haven't read the article yet, by the way). Lock her up.

Well, "hearing voices" can be a pretty real ailment. However, that implies nor excludes that the convenience of labelling people as suffering from AD(H)D, dyscalculy (not sure if it's written that way, supposedly the numerical brother of dyslexia, which I think is "overrated" as well), left-right-brain disorder, being "more of an emotional person", or whatever the hell they come up with now is an excuse for being plain lazy.

Right now there's this fad in Holland which we call "hoogbegaafheid", which basically means "being exceptionally gifted". Sure, some people are smarter than others, or are adept at a specific discipline, but here it is often used as an excuse for a child getting low grades, or (even worse) as a reason for home-schooling which often turns out children with sub-average abilities.

I don't know... I spent pretty much the ages 10 to 20 with a severe depressive disorder that also became a psychomotive thing.
I was considered "exceptionally gifted" (for example, I could read by almost age 3, and played the piano from just hearing the melody, by age 6) - but after many years of being stuck with regular , cruel children, in the middle of a mental disorder that was harsh for my age, I pretty much just gave up on life and people. I still cannot even LOOK at my piano without feeling nervous. I, in fact, had to have psychiatric help after 12 (and the doctor made me join the Boy Scouts so I HAD to learn how to deal with people again). I stayed until I was 16 - and, while, still depressed, never had treatment after that. I never did lose the depressive disorder, and, while it did make me a much better writer, I really had a weird youth - obsessed with reading and study and never sleeping much. If it weren't for literature and videogames, I don't know how I'd have turned out.
Recently, I was under treatment because my new doctor discovered a cause to the depressive disorder - my brain, somehow, produces impulses that are far too intense and unstable- so I go manic-depressive very easily. I took Prozac for a year (that was... weird) but now I'm returning to the real world.

Ah, and I'm also disgraphic - I simply cannot write by hand, mentally. I have to think the letters up, then sort of draw them. That's how I learned to simply memorize stuff at school from hearing it, and never taking notes.

While these might be seen as excuses, I've made pretty much good use of my weird disorders. It's been serious hard work to be around people, but I've become somewhat social with time. Hell, I teach for a living - and feel great doing that.
It's just a matter of not labeling yourself, but instead accepting your problems and doing something about/with them.
If you can't, then seriously, we all could use some help, and it's not shameful to ask for it. You just have to work to make life better no matter what, right?

well as i said there nothing really wrong with me but seven years of hell in the danish psychiatric system does leave some scars and marks in my life so to the game doctor , if he remembers the bigbrother thing i have experienced a place where my basic human rights were ignored before i got my apartment and that place , i can´t stand and hate it with all my body.(not my apartment but the hellhole)

and i were at that place for nine months.

but some good things i have experienced too was a place i lived for 4 years but still i would love to have experienced some other things instead of the bad things, but it fuck it i am happy now and hates being a pensioner but at least i can do all the good things now since i have my freedom now

and just for the record when i was at that hellhole , prisoners in prison did have more rights than i had.

but damn since my english is not the best i would wish i could say it danish and a dane or a swede would translate what some of my feelings are in danish into english for me.(or a norwegian for that matter)

but again the experiences i have experienced made me that person i am today.

just to wrap this up, the right to be different is also the right to be a human being, with all what matters.

although i would not call the woman a human being though she is biological a human being.(with the cooked baby)

GSL: well something just popped up in my mind, since i have read some other boards lately so, i just felt it was right to say it , and because i found found out that it is good to be "normal" and i am not the only one here who has "special gifts/curses" :)

because in Denmark some problems are still very taboo to tell.

and something can make your life shorter, that is why i was threatened to silence.
