hehe i once went to a thai/kebab/pizza restaurant that was run by a couple of arabs.. that was pretty damn bad, i dont think what they cooked can actually qualify as thai food it was just marketed that way.
Which is why so many suck hard. I think I qualify for a good opinion though because I've been eating assorted Asian food since infancy, I happened to live in the only state with a Japanese demographic and I was a Japan freak starting 16 years ago, and during that time I took 6 years of Japanese cooking classes, and I've been to Japan, so I'm a good judge. When it comes to Chinese food though, East Coast and California Bay Area Chinese are worlds apart. I haven't been to China yet, but I also lived in statistically the most Chinese part of America (over 20% demographic) and had a few Hong-Kong born friends turned me onto things other than chow mein, fried rice and hot & sour soup, which are the sadly the most authentic things you can typically get on the East coast. Even the Chinatowns here barely stray from the norm. If you can't get to California, I'd recommend Toronto for a Chinese food epiphany.
