There you go. And reflecting on my original post, it seems that the way some of The Boy's graphics are drawn contribute to the hit detection issues.

This so much. For example, considering Square ditched that shit in Chrono Trigger and Super Mario RPG (1995 and 1996, respectively), it's kinda ridiculous that random encounters survived in Final Fantasy from VII to X-2 (97-2003)... and didn't they also appear again in XIII-2 (a game made in 20-fucking-11)?

@blotter12 I wasn't saying it was a terrible nor a bad game ever, I've actually beaten it and liked it as well but whenever i hear about the Top 10 SNES jRPGs of the time or those ridiculous Console wars stuff (which aren't bad) Like with me, personally i love Sword of Vermillion & Phanasty Star IV being the better Gems of an jrpg then Mr. over-the-top Big show FF6 over here being more recognised by thousands of people for no reason whatsoever! I can list 6 or 7 RPGs on the same exact system. 1. Front Mission 2. Bahamut Lagoon 3.Mother 2/Earthbound 4.Dark Half 5.Bounty Sword 6.Chaos Seed - Fuusui Kairouki 7.Gokinjo Boukentai And last but not least 8. Shin Megami Tensei 1, 2 & If...!

I'll never understand the hate for random encounters. I actually prefer them to seeing the enemy, if only because if I can see the enemies then I have a tendency to track them all down. If there are random encounters I don't worry about such a thing.

And if the game has visible enemies that respawn after you leave the room? Gaaaahhhh!!!!!

    FFVII springs to mind.

Um... no? I don't remember any random encounters, at least not in the traditional way. The enemy appeared on the map at random, but you could run away from it before triggering a battle or run into it and fight. It's not much different than running around the world map in Tales of Vesperia, and people don't blast that game for having random encounters.

I don't mind random encounters either, as long as there isn't an absurdly high encounter rate. One of the few things I think FFVIII did right was allow the player to decide whether or not they want random encounters and at what frequency they should occur.

I actually beat Secret of Evermore.

Gameplay was OK, but everything else was garbage. The magic system (alchemy) was just bizarre.

I personally loved FFVIII, it was the first one i played so it will always have a special place. I think FF7 was the first one in the series to see a release over here anyway, but i remember seeing screenshots for FF8 and being blown away by the details

As for worst, from what ive played i would say eternal sonata. i wouldnt even say that's bad per say, i just cant get into it

Tales of Xilia for me, got it on release here in the UK and have to say it's the most boring thing I've ever played.

War of the Dead... "yeah we know you love the intro and title screen theme so we'll spawn an enemy 10x more powerful than you that can deal you a one hit kill on your first random battle at level 1."

I swear I must be the only person here who liked Xillia. I must also be the only one here who *Gasps* didn't really like tales of Symphonia.

I'd have to say the worst RPG I've played was the Final Fantasy Mystic quest games on the GB.
