Thanks for posting this: "If I die, would you play Chopin in remembrance of me?" lol Who the hell did the voice over for "Mega Man 8", that was no actor just some random off the street!
What makes it even worse for me is that I know how to do voice overs. In my time in Japan I've done 6 company promotion videos. The worst one was for Shimano (Bike parts and fishing rods). man, trying to sound excited about carbon rods is not easy I can tell you.
Yeah, one video I did for some company that makes navigation consoles for ships paid me 40'000 yen for one days work. That's about 435 US Dollars. Not all companies pay the same though. I did another for NEC believe it or not but they only paid 26000 yen, about 285 USD. Still, at least the NEC video was interesting do do unlike the ship navigation console one. Yakumo
Yakumo: if you find those videos on youtube, of you making voice overs. I would actually like to hear them, oh and Shimano are actually not bad when it comes to bicycle gears. I used to have a pretty damn good mountain bike with shimano gears. And they were smashing great.
Yep, had Shimano gears on my mountain bike too, smooth as butter, very reliable. And apparently sought after, because my bike is stolen. I'd like to hear the voice overs, too!
I doubt the videos will ever appear on YouTube since they are corporate promotion tapes shown to other companies. Still, anything is possible I guess. If anyone does find them please let me know too because even I never got copies of them
I can imagine it went something like this... "Whun yer fish'n rod is cewk, buy a nicked one from Yotomato Carbon Rods (or 'arr brid fe 'alf de price) and yous wul be bright cheddered." Anyway bad voice acting in games has been around since the 70s (See Nintendo - Wild Gunman)
A lot of Duke Nukem quotes were pretty cheesy. But if you want bad voice overs, just check out the Zelda CD-i games. Or the opening scene with Richter and Dracula in Castlevania: Symphony of the Night (one of the reason why I watch Japanese anime with subtitles instead of the atrocious English dubbed versions).
Sort of like Fist of the North Star and Vampire Hunter D - the same crappy American sounding voice actor for both. Bad enough they cut stuff out for the American audience...
