I really don't understand your attitude about these systems. You act as if you want something more out of them, but I don't quite know what it is. They all have excellent libraries with numerous classic games, some exclusive and some multiplatofrm, but all great. So what do you want? Just more classic games? Is that what it takes for a system to be a disaster? By that definition every system would be a disaster since I could look at any system's library and say, "There could be more classic games for it." Since the time of the Buddha all we've known that life is ultimately unfullfilling and dissatisfying, but it's important to be able to distinguish between suffering that comes from the world's incompleteness and suffering that comes from our own personal incompleteness. I suspect your problem with Sega's systems extends from the latter. ...word is bondage...
I do find your analysis enjoyable to read, but I can assure you that I'm quite pleased and content with the way things are in my life. But anyway, I'm not a fan of Sega hardware. Does that make me a bad person? I'd hope not. I mean, I dislike most American sports cars and lean towards import sports compacts...those who are into cars know and accept that people can and will have differences in tastes, so why should it be any different when it comes to video game hardware. I mean, it's all well and good to consider yourself a devoted Sega loyalist, but Sega has had and will continue to have problems in the way they handle things. In the end, I would not buy another Sega system mainly due to the fact that their track record with consoles is spotty at best. You can break it down to whatever level you want, but a game console should be fully supported for a minimum of 5 years, particularly important to those who buy the hardware from the very beginning, not those who buy the consoles for $50 after they've been reduced on clearance. It's a monetary thing in some ways from the consumer point of view. Yes, in hindsight, good games do get released for Sega systems don't get me wrong. But a consumer should be receiving a steady supply of new domestic releases for a number of years to come. I don't hate Sega...they do come up with some great games. I just don't trust them enough to go back into the hardware business. That is all.
Thats what I said: if they do another console then they should desing it with a partner to ensure that they wont leave the users behind. BTW, what grafx here says is what 90% of the gamers agree with: SEGA is cool, but goin back with them is pretty hard to decide
