Bung Doctor V64. No they are not rare, many of them are in Hong Kong. A guy in Hong Kong gets them regularly.

Did a review on one of these many moons ago. The one in my video is a version 1, version 2 has blue buttons.

Average price, many price them high as they believe it's a "development" system, when it's infact just a copier. Useless now-a-days due to the limited RAM support, a few games don't boot like F-Zero, Perfect Dark etc. They are nice to own, just stupidly expensive from stupid sellers. Depends how complete and how much RAM it the quoted one is you mentioned. If it doesn't have a pass through cart, or a power supply I wouldn't bother paying that amount.

Wish mine still worked though :(

I don't think they know how much RAM it has, it's not boxed but it comes with an N64 and a cartridge which I assume is the pass through cartridge, missing an AV cable of some sort. I wasn't particularly tempted for £150, I think they price some of these things high just so they have some interesting stuff in the store, to show that they're not just another retro store with nothing but 50 copies of world cup italia 90 on the megadrive

This might have been a hot item in the past but now that 64drive and the likes are out, I don't see any point in worrying about the V64

Highly doubt they would. I guess they didn't even have a power supply since many original power supplies stopped working the year they were made.

I have wanted one of these since my buddy came back from HK with one in 1999... man o man what I wouldn't give for the full kit with the 512 cart, pass-thru, and SCSI (I think?) cables for PC dumps :D

so , the way it sounds, these are nothing but crap now? well i think 1 unit has an upgraded RAM and the other one's RAM port is sealed. I have the PSU for it and they actually work. Its funny because when i got the other unit first , it actually had a BACKSTREET BOYS audio cd on it. =D

I don't know anything about the Bung Doctor v64, but if you want to play any game backup on your N64, the Everdrive 64 is excellent - it's fast, very reliable, it loads the games from an SD Card, is fully menu driven, on the PAL N64 (mine) it plays all PAL, NTSC and JAP games (I don't know if this is true on NTSC or JAP consoles, but I'd imagine so), and all saving/loaded to the 'game cartridge' is saved/loaded to the SD Card (the ED64 makes the N64 think that the game cartridge of the game you select in in the N64). When saving to the controller pak, then games still save to the controller pak, only cartridge saving is re-routed to the SD Card.

The only problem games are Animal Forest (the real game cartridge has a real-time clock built in, which the Everdrive 64 doesn't emulate), and a Japanese shooter (sorry, I can't remember the name) which won't save correctly to the SD Card, as the ED64 doesn't support the save type. Maybe these two will be fixed in later ED64 firmware updates, I don't know.

    Also, Donkey Kong 64, Jet Force Gemini, Banjo Kazooie, and Banjo Tooie need to have to have specific versions of the roms, or they won't run on the ED64;

"Jet Force Gemini (E) (M4) [f1].z64" and "Jet Force Gemini (U) [f1].z64" will work for JFG.

Banjo Kazooie needs the "Banjo Kazooie (U) V1.0 [f1].z64" rom.

"Banjo-Tooie (U) [!].z64" for BT. Note you either have to then patch this ROM (http://www.assemblergames.com/forum...ie-(U)-NTSC-Crack-amp-Save-Fix-released-today!), or use OS 1.29 or later on the Everdrive 64 (which you should anyway, you should always use the latest version).

Use only "Donkey Kong 64 (U) [f2].z64" from the GoodSet. Always use "force SRAM" on the bottom of the ED64 Menu before you boot the rom.

These are the only games where a certain ROM is needed, and they are all easily findable via google.

Common as hell. I have two. The last one, I paid £30 for. I think the first was around £50. £150 is a complete rip-off - get an Everdrive instead.

They actually WERE used by some developers as a cheaper way of testing ROMs on consoles - Nintendo's official solution was pretty pricey in comparison, so some felt this was a more economical solution when you have dozens of people wanting to run code on retail hardware.

Hopefully you have the rest of it, as it won't work as it is!

I never suggested that I had any desire to buy it, I don't have anything like that sort of money to spare and I am fully aware that £150 is a bit steep :p

It is a shame that retro shops do tend to overprice items like these, but it's a bigger shame that people seem to think that they can actually survive on £1 profit per game here and there!

You would have thought that the Internet would have been the death of the retro shop, but actually it's kind of the reverse. Firstly, they get to look and see what things are actually selling for on eBay and price them accordingly. Secondly, it means that people are actually willing to pay higher prices for items as they see them sell regularly online. Whilst the Internet has made collecting easier, it's also driven the price of some things up.

Still, I'd say Everdrive has driven the price of the V64, CD64 and Z64 down, as it's more desirable.

If I had a choice between 150GBP for a 64Drive and that I'd get a 64Drive and have something left over for lunch.

    Still wouldn't mind owning one.
