Down at the bottom of that article a Sony rep is quoted to saying that the PSP has shipped 20 million and the DS has just sold over 21 million. Now, its been my understanding from various articles that the DS has been thrashing the PSP since... well... since the PSP came out. But I didn't realize the PSP had been doing that well (especially with people like EA threatening to drop support). So... yeah, is the PSP really doing that well or is that just more Sony BS?

when i play on a PSP , it has that Ps2 feeling which makes me want to play it on a larger screen, like a proper console. Odd feeling.

I actually refused to update my firmware so I could play homebrew, so until very recently, I could not play new PSP games. I still have the first three I bought, but I have over 25 DS games. I am still trying to think of a good new PSP title. I know I know, GTA and Tekken, how new and exciting!

Cut the number of PSP sold in half...all the PSP owners are buying two so they're ready when the first one dies. ;)

The DS is beating the PSP everywhere. Sony always say how many units have shipped but what they don't say is how many have been sold or how many have replaced a faulty unit.

Just like how the DS figures don't include how many muppets traded in their DS "phat" for a Lite. Actual take up is going to be way out on both figures, sounless you did a show of hands, then you are going to have to put up with BS figures from both sides.

They CONSTANTLY pour into used game stores.
Used prices will drop rapidly over the next year.

I would be surprised if PSP really were doing better than the DS. PSP's software library seems to pale in comparison to the DS. I can't really think of one original PSP title that was great. I mean Mega Man Powered Up and Maverick Hunter X were excellent but remakes and not original. Same with many others games (hello tekken, gta, etc).

While the DS certainly milks mascots like Mario, Kirby, etc. they games are original and very fun.

To be fair, Nintendo have had to replace a lot of DS units due to dead pixels. The one I bought was returned and replaced and the woman at Gamestop told me at least 1 in every batch of ten they get in has some kind of screen defect.

That is a lot of returns.

you got yours replaced? lucky you. I had preorder and waited for my DS for a couple of weeks before I got mine.. and the first thing I noticed is a dead pixel when I boot up. So I mailed that bastards that sold it to me and they refuse to replace it, but offer to repair it for the price of around $100 :eek:h:
So I had to accept the dead pixel >_<

In the US? Nintendo will replace it for up to a year if you contact them. They send you back a DS with a guaranteed dead pixel free screen.

The replacement I got had a dead pixel in the top screen, top right corner so I wasn't too bothered. However, the touch screen is slightly yellower in colour that the crisp white of the top screen, so I'm probably going to contact Nintendo to replace it. The store I got it from seems to sell out fairly quickly, but they only get a few in at the time.
