Hi all, I keep finding these when searching for old BS-X carts: https://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/m.html?_...TR12.TRC2.A0.H0.Xbs-x.TRS0&_nkw=bs-x&_sacat=0 I refuse to pay that kind of money for these, and am wondering if they are just flashed with a GB cart flasher or something similar (wasn't the BS-X based on the SuperGB?) I know these games can be played directly using an everdrive, but as a collector, I'd love to have F-Zero 2 on the real hardware. Has anyone had any success with writing to these?
This question has definitely come up before but derailed into "why bother" rather quickly. Anyway, there's some info you might possibly find helpful in the original thread https://assemblergames.com/threads/transfer-a-rom-to-a-bs-x-memory-pack.18916/
Martin Korth reverse engineered the BS-X boot ROM and has documented the commands for the flash chips in the BS-X 8M memory carts. http://problemkaputt.de/fullsnes.htm#snescartsatellaviewioflashdetectiontype1234 So yes, they are reflashable - you just need to put the hardware together to do it.
Wow, that's awesome! I can't imagine there's many people that would take this on as a commission - I personally would not know where to start! Know of anyone @TriMesh?
OK, I did a bit more digging, and it looks like @sanni 's cart reader/flasher can handle BS-X memory cards. https://github.com/sanni/cartreader
Fantastic - Thanks so much @TriMesh. - This looks great! Does @sanni sell these pre-made? I've love to get hold of one.
