WTB: Friendtech DreamX 1480 or path to upgrade.

So the "Holiday Season" (still Christmas to me...) is coming and I want to get myself a good gift. So to that end I want the best Xbox ever made. As the title states that would be the Friendtech DreamX 1480. Cost is no concern as long as it's not over $500. I can be a bit flexible but not by much. I'd like for it to be a 1.1 model board but I doubt if that's possible to feasibly find within a month if any of them were even made on a 1.1 at all.

If no one has one they want to sell then my next option is to get the upgrade done to one of my consoles. I have a revision 1.1 sitting here that is bone stock save for a softmod at the moment. I would like for it to have the 1.4Ghz Tualatin CPU and 128MB RAM mod. I don't need the FSB switch like the DreamX 1480 has since I can patch games to work with the 1.4Ghz speeds. The media slot for external modchip is also not needed since we have the TSOP flash method. Price for this is flexible too since I'm sure it wouldn't cost over $500 to do.

If possible let me know before Christmas and we can hopefully work something out. I won't be able to have it done by Christmas. At this point I'm just after getting plans made to have it done sometime next year.

I'm in the USA if that affects shipping any. I can send my 1.1 if you can do the mods to it. I don't trust myself to do CPU re-balling and I already botched one RAM upgrade so I don't want to do either to this board...

If I get another 1.1 board I may come back to whoever wants to do this for me to get a second one made for another project. It's a secret until I get it done and whatever-diety-you-praise only knows how long that will take.

 

I've never actually seen a DreamX for sale anywhere. It seems to me that everyone who has one is holding onto them because they are quite rare. The upgrade is probably the more feasible option for you as it fits within your price range. Trusty is the only guy since you're looking for a cpu and ram upgrade. Trustyty@hotmail.com

 

IIRC Friendtech used to sell Socket 370 -> Slot 1 adapters as well, among several other crazy accessories that fell into obscurity.

I wonder how many of these Xboxes were produced (same for the DreamX-733)

A 1480 sold over the summer in a bundle with a crystal Xbox for $400. Sold by that storage unit seller. No idea who bought it though.

 

Thanks for the help and info. I figured it would come down to needing to contact Trusty. Thought maybe some one else here could do it but oh well. Time to email Trusty.

 

Got reply back from Trusty. My 1.1 board is going to China for a 1.4G Tualatin CPU and 128MB RAM upgrade.YAY!

EDIT: A few things to note. First off Trusty DOES NOT sell complete consoles. Just the main boards and the upgrade service to your own boards. Secondly he says to use XBMC revision 3.1.0 but 3.3.2 is the current one. Lastly he says to use XB Partitioner 1.1 but I use 1.3 as it has the 64K cluster patching freeze up bug fixed.
