Why didn't they replace the "letter" buttons with the proper X O etc buttons?

Because then it wouldn't be a Saturn pad

The Japanese love these pads so much that many arcades use the for shooters or 2D fighters via some crazy mod I guess since the pads they use are standard Saturn pads going by the code numbers on the back of them.

Sonofabitch...Okay if one of these does not turn up in the next 19 hours 46 minutes, I will probably end up buying the one on ebay...$105 plus $7.00 shipping, assuming I get it for the opening bid.....should I do it? Too much $$$???

Yes...too much money as a USB version just sold for $60....ugh...what should I do...I should be patient and hope one turns up...but I have no patience.

Welp, the one I was watching on ebay just sold for $115....I put a max bid in of $112, but could not justify going any higher....so I still am looking for one of these.

Wow, those prices are pretty crazy. I could almost get a PS2 for that price, which is ironic since its a PS2 contoller.

wasn't there a round corner saturn pad like this for the dreamcast?
i know there's the ascii one with built in vibration and squareish corners but wasn't there one just like the pic in op?

I believe you may be referring to the ascii FT Pad series of controllers for dreamcast. Truth be told though, while it may be a better alternative to use than a standard dreamcast controller for fighters, its still no where near in quality or as good as a saturn controller. This also applies to those nubytech SF 15th anniversary line on controllers and even Madcatz SF 20th anniv controllers.

That's about how much they go for nowadays. Looks to me like you're gonna have to save up.
