Not worth it anyway. The battery-backed memory's long since run down, so it's just an expensive paperweight in a glass jar now.

It was donated to them so they won't sell it. No one will donate items if they just turn around and sell them.

    I tried.

Nicolla from gamesniped tried as well.

I didn't go into specifics on this one but on another item I was told they wouldn't sell it for 20k.

So talk to them if you like but unless you are Bill Gates it won't do much good.

Sure you are right. Offer them 50k and see what happens. Perhaps they will sell then.

Can't someone just 'borrow' the prototype to make a mould. Or create their own casing copying the styling & dimensions of the prototype using CAD. Then by stuffing all the relevent hardware inside, voila!

    Had it ever worked before?

    Is there just one?

50k is not too bad actually. I was thinking of at least double that.

For $100K I would just buy a new Lexus. I'd use the leftover money to hire a butler who would follow me around and sit in the passenger seat and pretend I owned the Sega Neptune.
"Shall we go back to your chateau and play a little Sega Neptune, sir?"
    "Capital idea, James."

Nope. Never worked. I've never held it in my hands but I believe it a solid molded piece of plastic with no electroincs or parts.

Clint Dyer who worked at Sega pulled it out of the dumpster along with some handheld prototypes which he sold to me. The handhald protos are the same thing. No electronics just molds. The Neptune then went to the guy at Dreamcasthistory and then to the CGE guys.

I have nothing to contribute. Doesn't matter as the point of this thread is moot, anyway. This was just hilarious.

For $100,000 I am sure you could hire a professional thief to go and steal it for you and maybe rub out any one who might say it was stolen. :p
