I can get them for $20 at cost, problem is to get that many I need to order 25-50 of them and I don't have $500 to spare on something like this right now.

If there was interest in a group purchase I could spring maybe $200-250 for some for myself and sell the rest at cost with the cost of shipping to the states distributed evenly across all chips purchased.

 

They used to be around $35. Not sure when the price doubled.

I have only ever had 2. They required cleaning up and a few connections resoldering. But had no reliability issues after the poor construction was sorted.

But obviously when there are cheaper and better made chips, that kinda goes without saying

 

Rob Webb's new chip(consolegoods) is awesome, top notch, recommended!

 

How hard would it be to build your own? are the hex for the chips available anywhere?

 

If it is I'm unaware of it. Some of them aren't using PICs some use GALs from what I've seen.

 

I would be interested in a group buy. If you get enough people let me know.

 

If you contact consolegoods by email you can arrange the buying of some, you can't pay via paypal though as paypal doesn't like modchips. I think those are reasonably priced, maybe you could get a deal for a bunch.
