    Well if you had time on your hands you could do a nice 20 pin guide :encouragement:

    I saw that, but then my board is different to all the pics and he talks about soldering/breaking points depending on type of board?

    Also there's no pic showing showing the soldering of wire to the power supply board...

    The new chip doesnt require soldering or breaking points (as you were already told by Druid in this thread) and you can connect to the power point on the drive (which is in that link).

    The ribbon cable just inserts into the chip and into the console - there really is nothing to it.

    Ah cool, thanks for clearing that up. I haven't got a chip yet, but would go for the console goods one.

    What about the preferred method of soldering to the power supply board instead of to the plug on the drive?

    You can do the same with the 5v line on the drive too, assuming your wire isnt huge.
