I am in the search for a wii dev kit. I would be willing to purchase or trade. But I don't mind paying cash if you like that. Please email me at jeff@guerrillagames.net if you have one or know someone who does.

    Thank you
    Jeff.

I ask people to spare you from the wave of "lolz" about to hit this thread.
    :p

A Wii dev kit is an expensive item.

I am sure if you had $20,000 you might get somewhere. Might.

I heard that same thing about a 360 dev kit... guess what, I have one now :).

I understand the people who will post laughing, I am just hoping someone with one may read this and understand I'm serious and I understand the process of obtaining one. I am a collector and hobby programmer, nothing else, nothing more.

    Jeff.

PS, I'm new to this site, but a vet in the dev community. I can't believe I never came across this site. Its great. Glad to be a member.

The thing is microsoft is throwing units at anyone who shows interest.
However, you have found the right place. :)
Sit around long enough and amazing things come out of the woodwork.

    Welcome.

    Totally agree.

This email is also not to make fun of anyone, rather a guide: Jeff, you'll have to also recognize the fact that people need some sense of security before dealing high value items. A new member with no feedback record asking to buy an item in the multi-thousand dollar space usually does not go down well :) This place is all about communication and a sense of community of the truly hardcore (at least thats my view on things), and you will have to establish yourself on the board. I am not one of the most frequent users, but thouroughly enjoy being around here.

ASSEMbler: this is a well confusing Avatar you got there :)

Yeah, it's the past 5000 posts picture, only yakumo had it for along time, well, because he was the first person to be above 5000 posts for a long time.

    tubo,

Your absolutely correct. The only way to be seen as a "trustworthy member" is to be part of something for a long time. Unfortunatly I am new to this forum. I tend not to post a lot in any forum. I read a lot, but posting is just not my thing unless I feel really compelled. I have had a gamedev.net account for over 3 years and have made maybe 50-100 posts maybe. So, it will take a while.

My transactions are through Escrow.com service only, to protect myself and the seller. I have proof of two other purchases for dev kits through this service to warrent myself as a 'good buyer'. Again, I'm just a programmer and a collector.

Thanks for your message. Maybe someone who wants to part with one or willing to part with one will see this and contact me.

    Thanks again
    Jeff.

    Thread hijacking...

I did some checking and the only response I got was
an offer to get rid of some of their 360 hardware.

People are bullish on wii items at the moment.

    give it some time.

both Wii and PS3 dev material is still being paid for and is frequently used by companies. missing items will raise eyebrows.

If you just want to develop for it then a retail wii and a mod chip would get you started. If you want to collect it, then prices are going to be a bit high at the moment ( unless you find an idiot ).

I'm sure it won't be long before someone writes a loader disc that allows you to download software to a wii over bluetooth, you could be that person.

xbox 360 is quite old now, so enough time for a company to go out of business or for someone to steal a dev kit.

Can't you code for Wii on an old Gamecube devkit anyway?

more likely the WiFi - this kind of exploit has been done before, e.g. on PSP, its faster, and it integrates more easily. On the PSP, PSPLink is a great example of developing via a WIFI stub.

oops Kinda geting off topic for this forum. Sorry.

I want to do both, basically a mod chip will only allow for gamecube programming done on the wii, not utilizing the wii fully which I want to do. Second, yes I know it'll be a bit high, I just can't find any seller even if they wanted a high price. I would consider it though. Thanks though!
