that's just part of the whole story.

You need to have an established company (Which you can do for as little as 100GBP), and a list of reputable employees with past experience in the field.

you usually also need a game idea that either nintendo or your publisher likes :)

I m very aware of Argonaut's role in the industry. After buck-bubble on the n64 however, I sort of lost hope in them, and to date, I have yet to see them create a game that is either enjoyable or even technically impressive.

Malice and Catwoman the game didn't get exactly perfect tens either, if you know what I mean.

Talk about a bad track record , in which case, any sensible licensor wouldn't give those people a license to develop on the console.

Besides, there's a committee for evaluating games before they can hit publishing - how come none of these games were caught? :p

Don't know.. the last of the wikipedia article says:
"In late October 2004 Argonaut Games called in receivers David Rubin & Partners, fired 100 employees and was put up for sale. Lack of a constant stream of deals with publishers led to cashflow issues and a profit warning earlier in the year."

btw. Sorry for the OT webjeff.. going to leave this thread alone now ;)

yeap, when calling a receiver it means that the debenture holder of a fixed charge comes in and starts realizing assets. An administrative receiver is sent to take care of floating charges, but those are subject to ranking with preferential creditors. Receiverships were often followed by insolvency procedures, but thanks to the Enterprise Act 2002 an Administrator can be appointed to give the company a shot in the arm - although this is not the case apparently with Argonaut.

    back to topic!
