I just got a BSOD Nothing so bad that it didn't recover but it did indeed happen... Anybody else get a BSOD in windows 7 yet? (I run ultimate)
Turns out it was a JAVA exploit/Malcious code in something Security essentials found it and fixed it.
I got a bluescreen a while back, but it was a bit self induced (sort of), a friend plugged in his U3 flashdrive and it tried to install a 32bit driver into my 64bit system. Lets just say Win7 didn't like that so much. Also got a BSOD back in the beta when a bad audio driver was miss behaving.
Never once had a BSOD in the 9 or so months I've been using various versions. Have had many hard crashes but 99% could be directly attributed to hardware issues (overheating, cable getting pulled, etc).
Just wanted to comment, if you search for Windows 7 BSOD on Google, of course you are going to find the problems ;P Never had a blue-screen error from all the time running from beta-rc (which were ultimate), to my retail now.
Dont even bother buying Ultimate edition. Short of getting Language packs and some different tech support its useless.
It has a few extra features over Home Premium - or whatever it's called now. But yeah, not worth the extra $$$$$.
I bought system builders edition cost me £70 IIRC its only ment for single use but you can reuse it.
Actually its got quite a bit more features then Home Premium, especially if you are working in a corporate or semiprofessional environment. However I still wouldn't buy Ultimate, because those same features are in Professional. The only feature Ultimate has on Professional is bitlocker, but thats essentially a non-issue if you consider third party security apps like Truecrypt.
I get it when I wake my pc up from sleep I think its a power saving issue so I just keep it on all the time now :-/
You are most likely right, probably a driver not compatible with how Windows 7 "sleeps". Have you ever tried running Windbg to possibly determine the driver thats causing the problem?
