Wow, didn't expect something like this, this early in the game. Great work done by The Specialist and his crew. I also agree with their decision not to release the firmware, seeing how the only use is piracy.
So all you'd need to play pirate games would be a replacement dvd drive board, or firmware "mod" chip and a supply of ripped isos.
True indeed the hack in its current state only would spread piracy.Theres still alot of work to be done but this is a good start.
I've got a feeling it won't be long before this firmware becomes widespread and piracy becomes rampant... Seems like Dreamcast all over again.
it's interesting because, if legit, think of all the money and effort MS supposedly used to try to make the 360 unhackable.... I won't see myself doing this, but it rings of the "Titanic won't sink" kinda stuff..
I just like to see any and all copy protections fail as they serve as a restiction to only legitimate users.
Don't get me wrokng here, but most people just want to bootleg the hell out of the 360. The only bright side I might see is it might force them to lower the prices.
