Lately I have been craving for a 360. Not because I think the games are stellar so far, nor because I like Oblivion that much. It's a nice piece of hardware. However, with all those reports regarding varieties of RAM within the machine, heating issues, and the various other problems I confess that I am afraid to buy one. What to do?:banghead:
Well I have had one since jun and never had problems and i love it. Id say if youre really worried just wait to get one by nov. By then all the good games are out and the systems themselves will be more stable with better parts. If you dont care and dont want to fight the mad rush, by all means get one now. Especially if you got high speed internet. Theres so many free demos and crap you can get off the marketplace. Tonight im playing me some sf2hf.
but my problem is that even by nov. that new revisions will be out, how do I know which one I ll be getting, since the box is sealed and with no indication of revision?:S
Hmm, well they do have an extend warranty plan for 2 years. I think its like $50. Either way it will be a risk.
I'd wait at least until the PS3 is released. Despite what Microsoft say, I'd expect a small price drop around the same time.
If you're buying from a large store their inventories should be relatively fluid, so give it a month after the next hardware revision and go buy. Unless there's something you're really itching to play, it probably doesn't make sense at the moment.
I'm waiting for either Larger hard disk in the premium (at the same price) or a pricedrop. And I don't care how long it takes either!
I'm waiting for a decent price drop and/or a new revision of hardware. There aren't any games that I absolutely must play right now, so it can wait for awhile.
i love my xbox360 but i would wait til november too see what they have instore. Least you could get free live service. Most is a hundred dollar price break.
For an attempt at a videogame console its a very poor option, If you like your mainstream and PC titles then you'll like it but its a very cynical and self limited system that I personally would never recommend. Hold out until the end of the year and wait for the price to drop, I seriously doubt any diverse games will come out on it in any great numbers with the way MS push it.
althought i liked turok1 and 2 on n64, along with golden-eye and perfect dark, after experiencing quake3 on the PC i decided that the first person shooter genre is played optimumly with a keyboard, a mouse and proper scripting capabilities. Ever since, first person shooters on consoles must be exclusive for me to be enjoyable, be it Geist on the cube (yes, i do like that game alot for what it is) or Metroid Prime (the DS version is boring me to death, so formulaic) Having said that, GoW has eye-candy that makes me secretly want one of those white boxes.. yet I know i ll never get good at it at any rate, since i haven't got the time to become an FPS master.
model number alongside a sexy price-reduction should do the trick. Now to decide, US or PAL version? argue both sides if you may!
In terms of which is more responsive, PC wins hands down. I think console-based FPS games can be satisfying too, though - Halo multiplayer is undeniably good for what it is, and the Time Splitters series are fun multiplayer too. They're decent so long as everyone's equally disadvantaged, and the game's been designed for pads in the first place.
