Except for the fact they said all systems will be dev kits. I was wondering what they meant by that, but now I see. This is probably because XNA didn't take off as much as they wanted to for the 360.

Does work, you just entered it wrong. You have to be in a specific place in the system settings.

Does it also actually let you run game tiles or any home brew? Or is that environment really an crippled /or clapped down development setup?

Don't know yet, but it could enable unsigned code to be executed. They will probably have some kind of system that will stop retail games from running on it, by maybe different signature or not allowing signatures by Microsoft to be executed in devkit mode.

The only thing for sure that is confirmed, everyone Xbone is a devkit, and has to be activated by Microsoft by hand.

Sounds like they are less stupid than you thought.

Another guessing note, that it probably has a separate network for people to test on that the licensed developers?

Planned and announced by MS, so not a "mistake." Kind of funny to see someone call an announced feature a oversight. ;)

That said, MS has never supported retail code on debug setups and vice versa.

MS is also quite experienced with hypervisors.

My guess would be that "devkit" mode will enable one of two things:

    1) A limited sandbox to play in, similar to the current XNA-on-retail, but with more access to hardware.
    2) A reboot into a devkit signed system that won't touch anything retail until you swap back.

One is more likely than two, but either is possible.

Is not nice, i don't wish good to XBOX-SCENE.
ON X1 they show how god they can be, but on X360 how sneaky... nothing for free in "xbox-scene".

So i have hope is not option 2)...

Dont make sense. What if we want to create game with someone. We have to create on two consoles two games instead of write on cd and give for testing to someone who have also retail/dev? Again code only for one console?

So, if this won't take M$ retail code, could it leads to MAME on Xbox One? just as an example...

Not a surprise, as this was planned/announced from the beginning.

Pretty much #1 or #2.... Nailed that down good there mate but yah still... Early to tell what's going on but does anyone feel like this console is going to be even took easier than the 360s were? Sure sure activated by hand is required probably (sandbox id) Still researching into that with what data I can find tho! But then again this is Microsoft we're talking about....
They lose billions to piracy with their suites and OSes keys being passed around and shared publicly with little to no recourse on forcing the end user to shell up or pony up for his/her pirated goods, they pretty much made it easy in some way by already including the devkit functions and features with every console out there to be just "activated" It's not going to take much for someone out there to find what they're looking for and get busy right away... But yeah accessing all of these features as is and finding out what it actually lets us do would be VERY INTERESTING. Can't wait to see developments on the xbone... I wasn't eager about it or even remotely interested since the 360 still rocks and does the trick for myself.... But this thread has got my interest piqued big time.

If it doesn't take retail while under debug mode then it certainly will take homebrew / debug enabled xbone excuteables right? So someone develop a exploit via that route or is the development environment actually limited all the way to hell to where you can't launch jack unless M$ checks and verifies the code and all that sh#t before approving you to run it?? LOL

So basically this was like the Wii U debug menu that popped up and nothing can be done? It was probably instantly patched, and was told to some indie developer who got drunk and told everyone else :p

Heh that's the fun part.... So many conclusions... Can't wait to see how it progresses!!!!!! ;-) I wager my $$$$ that there'll be something out and ready for em from the homebrew folks before Summer of next year!
