I don't know what Virutal on is sometimes, some people classify it as a fighter, others shooter, others Mech Sim I HAVE NO IDEA
It really is a shame because the 360 has a much stronger games line up IMO but Japanese are stupid and look to where the system is from. I had no love at all for Microsoft. I thought the first XBOX was a big ugly heap of shit but I took a look at what the 360 had (best of multi platform ports too for a very long time) and bought one. I've never looked back. To be honest though. Sony were doing their typical bully tactics in Japan against the 360. Even in the early days when the PS3 games selection really was piss poor and all multiplatform games were better on the 360, you could never find the 360 version. Why? Because Sony paid may chain stores to promote only the PS3 versions. This happened a lot with multiplatform games. I remember trying to find Bayonetta on the 360. All you could see in main chain stores was the poor PS3 version. I had to go to a real indie games shop to find the 360 version on front display. Yakumo
What are you talking about? Most chain shops that were near me in Ibaraki had a good selection of Xbox 360 games including having new releases (including multiplatform releases) and generally had about as much space as the PS3 ones. i doubt if it has anything to do with bully boy tactics more the fact that the PS3 and the games sold more as I never saw anyone buy an Xbox 360 game, although I did see people buy PS3 games regularly...
That's not the case in Kyushu or Yamaguchi. When a new release comes out on both systems ALWAYS only the PS3 version is displayed at the front f the store.
Ima go with...sod off. Either explain your reasoning or don't bother making a post telling me my opinion is wrong because you say so. And lol yes. Sorry. Way by a long shot. FFXIII is garbage. 100+ FMV hours of garbage with MMO elements. Back to the topic at hand: Aren't the Japanese still highly Xenophobic? Given the consensus is that American/European dev is far more influential at the moment should I even care what the Japanese do/think these days? They're getting left behind and it seems that instead of adapting just a wee bit they drive themselves further into what is holding them back. Sony isn't doing too bad but they sure as hell aren't the spring chicken they were with the PS1 or the PS2.
Couldn't it just be the fact the Xbox just doesn't sell well in Japan - therefore, why put games for a console no one has at the front of the shop? Its a business, you give items you can actually sell to lots of people the prominent location in your shop.
If someone mentions Shenmue 3 then I shall fly to their house and bury them in concrete before fork lifting them and dropping them in the river / sea from a dock.
It'll be interesting to see if Cave start to release their shooters on PSN. If they do, I'll be selling the 360 ports and getting the cheaper download versions.
No, that's not the point though. What gets me is that most people don't bother to look around a store. They see that the PS3 has all these great games not knowing that the same game (most of the time technically better) is on a different console. Most people just look at what's in front of them. that is the nature of a casual shopper no matter what they are buying. So having no front end displays really did damage the 360 in Japan. And like I said, it's a crying shame because Microsoft did a lot of good this time round. Better looking system, loads of Japanese support and many good exclusives. But what Joe Blogs doesn't see, doesn't get bought Yakumo
Shenmue 3. And you're welcome round at mine any time! On topic. I love the 360, but part of me thinks 'so what'. Ultimately it's no skin off my nose if JP gamers are missing out on some quality exclusives, and superior multi platform titles. (PS3 Bayonetta...lol!) But part of me also bemoans this, both the for 360 fans in Japan, and for the Western fans of the JP exclusives. Now if only the West would phase out the Piiss...
Do remember that companies do pay for displays to be in good positions in stores, so if Sony did and Microsoft did not then that is microsofts fault.
Not 100% true in Japan. I know quite a few high up people in the marketing areas (well, 5) including some that work with government officials. There's an awful lot of "under the table" deals going on. Just looks at the bloody price of CDs and DVDs in Japan for evidence of dodgy retail practice. We all know what the Japanese are like when it come to "outsiders" when they have an "insider" producing the same type of stuff.
Even if that's true, a lot of games have come to be superior on the PS3, if not almost 100% the same as the 360 version. And it's an on off thing too, Bayonetta>360 Vanquish>PS3
Yes we do. But really, neither the 360 nor the PS3 has offered up much this generation IMHO. It seems PS3 won the battle of the blands, in Japan at least.
