Well sort of... I work with a certain brand of computers day in day out, and it struck me the other week what the design of the 360 reminded me of. Behold in all of it's glory, the Dell GX270: Stick the drive on the other side, stick the power button where the Dell logo is, and change the shape of the flap (the dark grey thing with theDell logo on it) hiding the USB slots, and obviously the colour, then you have a 360! Thank you folks, I am here all week, try the shrimp! With a bit of flipping, and overlaying, here's a more convincing argument.
Whoa! Dude, you have a great eye for this things. I think we had a similar computer at the Radio Station and I never once saw this obvious resemblance. Great one, sir.
Meh, i thought the same thing when the xbox 360 was revealed. Every computers at my school have this box.
cool thing is dell is just waiting till microsoft sold millions of units to file a complain so they can get more money
I actually had a gx270 at my last job, lol. Too bad it's actually a better looking design than the damned 360.
Hah, bring on the Microsoft-flaming equal in heat to the Sony-bashing that ensued after somebody posted pictures showing the similarity between the PS2 and Falcon 030...
ah, not the Falcon 030 ( though I swear it was), but some Atari (prototype) machine that indeed looked quite like the PS2.
Oh, Tachikoma beat me to it. But interestingly enough, while I was looking for this picture I found a link to part of Sony's patent for the Playstation 2 and they even mention the Microbox in their design patent (which obviously doesn't mean that the Microbox actually inspired the PS2 design, but it's still interesting). http://www.atari-explorer.com/falcon/microbox.html ...word is bondage...
Heh! That actually looks pretty sharp for an early 1990's computer! As a console, I don't think it's that great.
PS2 Prototype? Look at the PS2 casing patent pic. It looks like a oversized PS2. I think I have an actual pic in some magazine that mach the patent pic. Will scan and post, unless u people already know what Im talking about.
I found it! It's the PlayStation 2 2 DTL-T10000 TOOL. http://www.uk.playright.dk/raretitel.php?id=29927 http://www.watch.impress.co.jp/pc/docs/article/20000304/ps2_e1.htm
At work we have around 20 of these Dell GXx. Maybe the guys at Dell would have to make face plates too XD
