    Hi people,

Does anyone here own a copy of Final Fantasy XI for Xbox360?
If yes, is it launchable from HDD? It would be a great way to launch the exploit, requiring less time and no drive key.

    Greets,

    Pit

what exploit are we talking about? There have been only two that I know of and you can't run them on recent consoles...

    yes, the 4532/4548 exploit
who cares if newer boxes can't run it?
there still are a bunch of 1888 based boxes out there so there still is a possibility for timing attack

I've got it (found it on sale for $5.00 a while back) I never used the 30 day trial, so it may still be good. I'll see if it will run on a dev kit in a second.

FFXI requires the DVD to launch for the 360, even though it installs data onto the 360. So you arent really saving any time.

I'm not having much luck, I'm installing it from the disc now, haven't tried it from the hard drive yet, i'm still waiting on the files to transfer to my dev kit...

What if you remove all of the media flags from all of the xex files? It should work then, shouldn't it?

the question lies here: does it start from demo menu? if yes, when does it ask for the disc? is any shader "executed" before the disc is asked?

No, you need to start it like any normal game.

I own the game its exactly like most games on the ps3, you install the games but then you still need the disk to run it, no time saved.

That's still not the point. The question is whether the .xex files are signed to run from a "console-signed container (CON)". If they are, we sure(*) find a way to run them without the game.

(*) I shouldn't use strong words like this.

Well If i remember right on Xbox Hacker Angerwound or Roofus posted a question just like that, I geuss the only way to know would be for somebody to install the game and then explore there hard drive with Xplorer360.

I would but installing the game takes hours, but from what I remember It copied individual files that werent in Containers.

atleast thats what I remember from when I used to play the game and Installed it.

Im not understanding something tho from all this, its pretty simple the game runs from a disk, unless theres a way to run disks Through the XBLA menu or the Demos section of the hard drive getting any further with this game seems like a pointless cause.

Well I geuss I cant complain, any advances in using the one exploit known is always good, gives me a reason to dust off my linux 360.

Maybe in future you should keep pointless comments that make you look like an idiot to your self.

Since the system itself can't see any files via the Storage menu, I don't see the point. As it stands, if you want to install/uninstall/play the game, you need the disc.

alright, so how about arcade games?
if I download an arcade game and put it on my friend's hdd, will it work?
in other words: are arcade games CON? signed per box?

If you download a FULL arcade game its tied to your console. Everyone on that console can play the game. However if you copy the game to an other console it will be in demo mode (on that console). BUT if the buyer of the game signs in on that xbox it will be in full mode.

The Arcade games are RSA signed and are in a Live file format.

EDIT:meaning you cant edit them and they actually run unless you have the m$ private key.
