Got this in the mail today, pretty excited about it (although I probably wont hold onto it for long). Its an early Xbox 360 controller, which, unlike the OurColony.net prototype which had a white button, lacks any guide button. It has the prototype buttons, with the white accent marks, along with the white dpad. Joysticks are obviously black. The back and start buttons lack the indentations on the buttons themselves, as do the shoulder buttons. The whole controller is a glossy white finish, unlike the mat, almost-offwhite finish of the retail controller. The bottom by the microphone is white plastic, unlike the grey of the retail, and has a black microphone jack, along with a black wire. The date on the controller is March 18th, 2005, so its quite early.
Got it for a relatively decent price too, so Im happy about that heh. It'll probably be for sale in the next week or two, but since Im going to be away for a week or so, I cant sell it yet heh.
Well, there is no guide button, so that might be weird. I'm curious what it does when plugged-in, though. Assuming it has all the other guts. Which, to think of it - would you be willing to post some pics of the innards of it?
I dont plan on opening it right now, sorry. It shows up as an Xbox 360 controller in my PC / Mac, Windows 7 downloads the drivers.
I love its buttons. If only the final versions had them. Now I want same one, too. Without the guide button can you plug it on an Xbox360 and play normally?
Awesome! This one looks like the one(s) that leaked out on picture some time before the X360 launch. Good stuff
I also own a later prototype controller dubbed "krypton" and the lights just flash on and off when it's connected to an xbox, so I'm assuming this would do the same. It would work with an alpha or beta kit though. Here's a video of it: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_WBlV31erPc&feature=channel_video_title
The Kryptons we have at work are all in terrible condition lol, such is the fate of many just used until destruction lol.
Lol theft from the workplace is somewhat of a no no, especially considering the clauses of the contracts and such we sign haha. Most of them are just damaged from over-use and bad use. They've all been pulled off of desks, dropped, thrown and generally mistreated. Lol i saw someone shout at one the other day because one of the bumpers was screwed and smashed in which caused random deug stuff to be popping up. While it would be lovely to liberate some, a pad isn't worth the risk lol.
