That's right ! Last night on the way home from the pub I was watching TV on the train when they showed XBOX 360 stuff !! What the showed looked like a CG movie but they said that it was actual game. The game or clip that they showed was a fantasy based game that looked sort of like Lord Of The Rings in a away. I only caught the last 30 seconds of it but it sure looked good. THe news reporters also mentioned that game companies will struggle to produce such quality images. Then mentioned that Sony and Nintendo will be showing their new consoles at a show in American soon (E3 me thinks) I just wish that I had my SD card in the phone so I could have recorded the show. It is very strange that Microsoft showed that on the news though. Probably trying to win back people from their last fuck up. Yakumo
Blue Dragon maybe? http://dynamic5.gamespy.com/~japangaming/forum/viewtopic.php?t=723 I think MS's only chance of a good launch in Japan is having this bitch ready by then... and even that will be questionable.
You don't build a multi-billion dollar company by continuallly f-ing up...the problems with launch and initial user base will be fixed this time...you can bank on it....just hope Nintendo and Sony can follow with equally good launches...it would do the industry no good at all for any of the 3 to fail.
What's WBS? The news program was probably on the Fuji TV network since it has 10 in the tile which is the number that Fuji TV is on. Why it can't be like the UK I don't know. BBC 1 = channel 1 etc.. Yakumo
Yeah I think it was channel 10, IT was WBS news or something like that, well if you saw it around 11 pm.
It's not that simple. In Japan and the US there are many more different TV stations and regional variances and stuff - they just grew to use the designated VHF/UHF channel numbers. In the UK there's only 5 national terrestrial channels transmitted on different channels throughout the country, and very few independant regional broadcasters. BBC 1 is never actually on channel 1, as that channel is rarely actually used for TV broadcast and VHF band I and III (channels 1-20) are no longer used in the UK for terrestrial TV broadcasting - same goes for all the other channels. For example, Crystal Palace in London transmits BBC1 on ch. 26, BBC2 on 33, ITV on 23, and channel 4 on 30. Most people just set the "programme positions" on their TV set so BBC1 is on 1, BBC2 is on 2, etc.
Ah, well it was about 11pm when I was on the train so it was probably the same news program. That game did look very nice though. Yakumo
Well apparently it was also shown on NHK BS news. Blue Dragon http://ruliwebfile.dreamwiz.com/mpeg3/xbox360/e3_02.wmv Lost Odyssey, Q's game, etc. http://ruliwebfile.dreamwiz.com/mpeg3/xbox360/e3ss.wmv Blue Dragon, and Akira Toriyama's art style isn't my bag, but Lost Odyssey and Q's game looks pretty neat.
Yeah, that's the one I saw on TV. ( Lost Odyssey, Q's game, etc. http://ruliwebfile.dreamwiz.com/mpeg3/xbox360/e3ss.wmv ) It was not NHK BS but normal NHK news 10. It's a bilingual news show but who ever did the video capture sort of cocked it up. Sadly I had to watch it in Japanese. Bloody non-bilingual TV phones Don't know why it isn't because it's stereo. Anyway, yes that game looks very nice "IF" it's in real time. Yakumo
Yeah the Q game looks pre-rendered... TV phone? Are you sporting one of those new Vodaphone models with the rec function?
Every Sony game machine has launched with a major defect. PS - overheating PS2 - multiregion hack and bad games PSX - it sucked in general PSP - dead pixels Kotodama: I read (and posted) that Mist Walker's new game is Blue Dragon. I've never heard of Lost Odyssey. Got some info on both of them? Yakumo: About watching the video in Japanese. I was one of the 8 people in Japan that bought an Xbox. I also got Halo, assuming it'd have Bilingual support, only to find no English voices or subtitles. Talk about backwards.
Lost Odyssey info from IGN: this Japanese RPG is being developed under the watchful eye of Mistwalker founder Hironobu Sakaguchi. Sakaguchi...shared a bit on Lost Odyssey's background story. You play as Kaim, a man who's been sentenced to live for 1,000 years. The game's storyline takes you through Kaim's life as he lives through multiple generations, becomes a part of many families, falls in and out of love and gets into conflicts. All this is set in a world that is on the verge of a "mystical industrial revolution," where mankind has attained dark powers. Lost Odyssey has some experimental qualities to it, with Sakaguchi revealing that he's trying a number of new things due to the length of the main character's life... The game's storyline, according to Sakaguchi, focuses on the day-to-day events of Kaim's life.... To create Lost Odyssey's storyline and scenario, Sakaguchi turned to a person he personally admires, award-winning Japanese author Kiyoshi Shigematsu. The game's characters are being designed by Takehiro Inoue, known for his work on comic series such as Slam Dunk and Vagabond. Finally, Sakaguchi called out famed game music composer Nobuo Uematsu to make a few comments on his work with Lost Odyssey. Uematsu revealed that Sakaguchi asked him to provide jazz vocal music, which is a new field for him. In addition to these three all star staff members, Mistwalker is turning to a separate studio to handle development on Lost Odyssey. Feel Plus, a new studio that was formed for the Lost Odyssey project and includes ex Square Enix employees, is handling development duties on the game. Serving as producer is Hiroshi Kawai, with Daisuke Fukugawa and Takahiro Kaminagayoshi serving in double director roles. All three are Field Plus staff members.
Blue Dragon definitely is a different game: http://www.mainichi-msn.co.jp/it/game/news/20050511org00m300087000c.html The main character is Shu and character designs are from Akira Toriyama from DQ fame, and is being developed by Mistwalker. I guess MS is getting their money out of him this time.
This is, I guess, what is currently known about it. Shuu (main character) is the one on the bottom and with the dragon coming out of his shadow. Seems like his buddy Jiiro has a head for planning and his other buddy Kurukku (girl) has a little bit mature persona.
