the serial number is attached to the chassie rather than the case on a slim so it could so easierly been done and not checked
The console should have the SAME serial number on three places: 1- Dashboard "ABOUT" screen where the legal warnings are displayed. 2- Under the cover that protects the front USB ports 3- On the sticker at the back of the console body. On mine all three match so the console was never modified by anyone. It just was "born that way" ...
An new member just PM'd me with the winner answer: Considering that I bought it used from another person and I was given nothing but the hookup cables and an faulty hard drive, I had never seen it's box neither I knew it had HALO REACH bundled ... Thanks, Trajano
the sounds are probably on some eeprom or something. if i were ms i wouldve made them OTP chips since there is no need to update them really.
Turns out my Halo Reach edition console has been victim of a "case swap" before it got on my hands .... That's too bad ... Because it's original case was gorgeous ...
1. This can change.. 2. Microsoft sometimes even makes legit consoles where the outside serial number and actual serial don't match. 3. This sticker might not exist at all depending on the unit.
2. That's not the case if it's a retail (mine is retail) so if the serial numbers mismatch the unit was surely tampered and is object of a fraud. 3. Again if it's a retail, the damaged or missing sticker surely mean it has been tampered. (Any legitimate exceptions to the above mentioned rules can be safely assumed to be Microsoft mistakes. :lol
2. Xenon is right, you are wrong. The numbers don't always match. The usually do, sometimes they don't. 3. You are still wrong.
you and xenon are right... i have recieved units several times that the serial numbers did not match...untampered as well xD
