Okay; Ladies and gentlemen I bring your minds into this because of these corona kits I bought. What am I looking at here? Shutdown XAM (debug) ???? This showed up on all these kits running 21115.0. The other retail recovered xdk has this on the retail dash totally lacking the Xshell: So separately I've been chatting with a few of you about these. But to recap, these came out of California from an e-waste site. There was ten total. Initially I thought there were trinity boards in the mix, I was incorrect In total 10 boards 9 are corona through various stages of production. Of those 9, 7 have the sidecar peripheral. 2 do not. All but the retail flashed is running 14662.0/21115.0. The retail flashed is running 14699.0/14699.0 ??? The other kit without the sidecar add on is running 13147.0/20533.0 None of the Xshell enabled kits have ever been named. The retail flashed board went through the initial retail setup with me when I tested it, so it even seems like it's never been used. All of them show that shutdown XAM thing. The 10th board is a Winchester/E board. However this shipped with stress cables. I have an E but mine clearly was for a trade show or something; all retail looking. Nothing extra. I have not opened that one so I didn't even realize that's what it was when I bought them. It is running 21256.3 and is nothing special as far as firmware oddities like the rest. Unfortunately none came with HDDs or the shells, including the metal shielding which would need to be cut into to access the sidecar port when I eventually build them all into retail parts. The seller included the oem DVD boards. I labelled them to keep track but it's basically pointless seeing as they're xdk. Lastly, the sidecar peripheral'd boards are missing the large nand cable to connect it to the board. Doesn't effect the DVD drive obviously but for sidecar use this would need to be installed or hacked in. Stress cables would work. So I'm not looking for buy offers by bringing you all here, I'm looking for general discussion. I repeat, do not ask how much. This is NOT a sales thread. PM me if you'd like any questions private but I encourage open dialogue. Let the discussion begin. Lots to try and remember in my old age.
One thing you might want to try is use XbWatson and run the 'Shutdown XAM'. See what it comes back with and post the relevant bit of the log here
Better yet enable kernel debugging and see what kdnet/windbg tells you. EDIT: I should mention the reason for this is that xbwatson uses XAM so if you kill it then you probably wont get any output but even without XAM the kernel is still running soooo...
If you only knew. What horrors these poor kits probably saw at an e waste site. The seller removed the metal shells to save on shipping.... I shit you not.
Where I work we do e-waste recycling for certain things and I've seen people throw old CRT TV's because there were cardboard boxes between them and the area TV's have to go. Hopefully they weren't handled like that.
Great find! Of all of them, which would you say is in the worst condition at the moment? As for the oddities, what one stands out to you most?
The Winchester board just because of how rare they were in the first place but mostly because this came as a stress kit. They obviously have to stress every revision but to date, I believe anyhow, the two known for sure in the wild were like E3 demo kits of which I have one of them. No where else have we seen a stress E kit, correct me if I'm mistaken though.
I can't remember all these dashes, but doing a quick look it seems to me that 2 of these 3 dash revisions never had a retail version, is this correct? (13147 & 14662) My best guess on the xam debugging patch to the hud would be that previous to 14699 (all of them running 14662) were used for testing the additional features to go in 14699 Taken from a forum not from xbox official info so I am not sure as to it's completeness, but this looks like a lot of stuff that would be run with xam the other thing I find odd about this lot is that these dashes were all just previous to all the bootloader changes made to stop RGH1 after 14699, maybe pure coincidence there but who knows
I think dumping the nand and letting y'all that are far better at peeking and poking look into it all. Standby, I'll dump a kit now....
Dammit. Swizzy's nand dump crashes upon use after stating no nand found????!??!?!?!?!? I gotta look more into this..... I really don't wanna yank a nand the old fashioned way.
