Without much talking got my ordered pcbs today and soldered together a first one to test them. First i need to set up a franken alpha to test it out but that will take some time... Anyone interested in a soundcard for a franken or original-alpha kit? @Everyone: Drop me a PM if you would also like one! Order list: 1x Syclopse 3x Borman 1x dans87 1x Muramasa 1x CodeAsm 1x stuntpenguin 1x karcsi89
I know I would. Mine have been collecting dust since before we last chatted, havent been able to get to them.
Just checked the price for all the components and my work involved. I would sell these for 45€ each completely soldered together and tested. So a nice and simple plug and play install for the (franken) alpha consoles. I use the original WM9701 chip as that's the one that's used on the original soundcard. Only thing is that you need to build/modify a metal backplate to install it to the case yourself. I made the mouting holes to the standard position and size that's found in the AMR definition so it should be pretty easy to find and modify one. Before selling them i will defintely give the first one i soldered together a test in a franken alpha to be sure it works perfectly!
@Syclopse I got all the necessary parts for a franken alpha here and only need to get it set-up. Will drop you a PM in a minute to not derive the thread too much!
Finally after receiving the New Nvidia Card and a bit off help from @Syclopse i got the franken alpha to work! So i transfered the Simpsons game and thought why not test it with the Dashboards audio player first? Result: The Audio output sounds great and the simpsons Game is quite fun to play! Now who wants such a soundcard? It will take another 4 weeks till i can get them all finished but i'll gladly collect the orders now!
Good stuff, we can get custom brackets made from keystone or can find blanks and just drill the single audio hole out.
Great news about the custom btackets! With them the cards would be complete and perfect! The price for a complete soldered together and tested Card would be 45€ + shipping. Uninsured international shipping for a single one would be possible for 4,20€ and for a few 7€. Insured and traceable shipping is quite a bit expensiver with 38€ but that's at the buyers choice!
@Syclopse @Borman @dans87 @Muramasa @CodeAsm I just added an order list to the first post. Guys if i missed someone or anythings wrong just drop me a PM!
Great work @N64 freak , I received it today. Amazing, it looks awesome and is a perfect match to the original. The sound with the Simpson's E3 Demo was awesome. The new audio connector is thinner but still fits the original bracket perfectly by having the metal tabs on the opposite side of the board. Fits into motherboard with the bracket attached securely. Numbers on the bottom of the bracket are: 5001 Globe, NJ 07092 Looks to be here, would have to drill out your own hole if we can order from them. http://www.globebrackets.com/search-tool#brackets-search/bracket-details2/57feac4973926b5c286398a6/
