I recently purchased a few betas and I have gotten 2 out of 5 of them running, the other 3 I put in the debug, it reads them but nothing shows up in the launcher. So then I tried to get them to boot from power on, the xbox hangs at the xbox logo and reads but then gives up and goes to the xdk launcher.. Wondering what I can do to possibly get these working. -DiGi Edit: I put the disk in my Kreon drive to see what would happen and.. I might try to rip it and see what happens..
One second ill post one, the person on these forums I got them from the marketplace thread was titled betas and silvers these are the ones I can't get to run.. and the other one is unlabeled completely the other 2 have the ACXXXXX and then say Microsoft Confidential and work fine. Edit: I just popped one of the working ones into my Kreon and its the same way with the video_ts I'm going to try to clean the others and try them again.
Try the ones that don't work in the debug on a retail unit. Some Xbox silvers are actually meant to be played on a retail Xbox, even though they have the Microsoft Confidential stuff on them.
Yeah I was thinking about trying that, but the fact it doesn't show up in XDK Launcher is weird. I've ran plenty of retail games on my debug but I guess trying to on my retail wont hurt? ;-) Edit: Just tried it in my box running evox and sure enough it worked just wondering why it wont show up in the XDK Laucher. Edit 2: I just tried the XGRA silver... im guessing in my box and it went to boot and backed out to the dash.. I'll keep messing with it I guess.
Are you loading it with the retail game loader, or the file placed onto the E-drive? There are two methods to booting retails (at least, two popular ones) And those disks are pressed, so they wont show up in a normal DVD drive.
I tried using the retail loader and nothing weirdest part is they play in my bix running evox but they will not even show up in the xdk launcher from disk, I would put them on the HDD if I had some more space maybe I will try it a bit later when I have the time. As of now all of them are working except for XGRA which loads with a dirty disk error.
hey DIgi i got a set from that guy which should arrive tomorrow (EDIT: Monday), can you tell me which work in retail and which for in xdk, so i dont have to throw a hissie fit trying to figure it out.
Only the two Turoks worked in my debug the others (Legends of Wrestling II, BMX XXX, and EGRA) would not work in my debug.
Nah, that looks genuine to me as it's similar to the font and layout used on a pile of Acclaim discs I had a while back. It's not burnt on, but printed.
Use the files that loads a version of Phoenix Bios Loader when the debug launches, then you dont have to deal with retail game loader.
As I stated I got all of them running except XGRA which gives me a nice dirty disk error. The two turok betas run fine on the debug the other 3 games need to be ran on my evox box. If I had more space I would take the 3 and pop them on my hdd but I dont atm, maybe I'll go pick up a new IDE HDD soon
Nice to know only difference I guess is I have a debug kit and not a dev. Oh well they are neat to try it so its cool.
i ran them on my dvt-4 and only the turrocks work, there all factory pressed, the others work on retail, he must just have a kit with modded bios.
