@XboxSurgeon thanks for the photo of your DVT4 that clearl indicates that this is a DVT4. Was a fault of mine as i never saw a Debug or DVT4 with a MCP X2 or i may simply never really bothered? The Top is clearly painted from the inside. The only question is who did it and why? As Borman said its almost 100% sure that it was done by some modder. The paint does look pretty good but you see it is painted. I can't think of Microsoft painting there shells! They would have simply molded them in blue. The only option would be to identify them easily for internal tests. But there would be easier options to mark a few consoles than tear them down and spray paint them from the inside! Still need to figure out why it won't boot and fix it up and check if there is something on the HDD. Well if it was in the hands of a modder before the HDD will most likely be empty i guess...!
if you have another Xbox motherboard capable of booting debug-style, you can just pop the HDD in it. Modders do all sorts of stupid things unfortunately.
I knew I've seen this once before! http://www.emudesc.com/threads/ediciones-limitadas-o-especiales-de-la-xbox.390545/ Open the development kit spoiler Painted by a user that went by "noobsaibot73" on Xbox-Scene I believe.
When you said arcade connector, you mean connector for Chihiro dimm board ? JVS port for Chihiro too? Exist this connector on DVT 4? Picture please.
You can use rit dye, a mixture of heat water and acetone to make any plastic (preferably clear or white) dyed another colour. Part of my other hobby has made ways to make this work on ABS plastics (and PVC to a degree) so to me this is very doable, though it would be a lot of rit dye and a vary large container to get it so even, and even then there will never be an even enough coat unless you repeat the process a couple times. It's neat stuff
Its an absurdly complicated process for something of this size so it would need to be calculated carefully to prevent the acetone eating the plastic. But yeah its a very home made method... I thought it was more common but I guess not lol
DVT3, MCP X2 DVT4, MCPX X2 Retail, MCPX X3 Thats probably incorrect (also, X2's seem to have diferent codes aswell, SMC somewhat matches those) I havent seen alott of original DVt3 motherboards, so im not sure. But what a goodie fix that harddrive
Man, I've seen this kit before! I just have to find the links of where I've seen it before. This xbox has been passed around and has been opened up/hacked up a couple times. N64 Freak I'll try to get you some links, I know I've seen this before. I hope it'll help you find the history on the kit. For sure though the blue lid was painted. Not sure by who, but I recognize this kit by the blue lid.
Look at ToxicMedz post #25 above, he found it where it was listed on other sites. http://assemblergames.com/l/threads/xbox-dvt3-development-kit-in-blue.59046/page-2#post-845552
Another XBOX video chip for readers of this thread: NVIDIA MCP XMODE2 C63861.01 0117B1 (17 week of 2001) B1 for BETA-1 perhaps. S TAIWAN I consider this one to be an early DVT(3) there is no Microsoft printed on it. This particular one has the red 5-pin USB ( J6A1 ) and the black 30-pin ITP connector behind the CPU ( J2B2 ).
Thanks for the detail shot. Also, does JayRayFox know any diferences in hard/software detection for this chip? cause he had some "programs" that detected some names and/or byte diferences in response from the mcpx when called. maybe he can figure out with a small (hopefully) non-destructive program (as in xbe) if there is a lott or not different (for a software point of view). maybe he just ran linux, cant remember if he explained the way he did it.
*sigh* Okay guys so I plan to make a YouTube flick over this but I haven't found the time with my job, kids and crippling life circumstances on a near biweekly basis (I kidd). So here it is without further argument: The blue top dvt4 is fake. Here are pics of the lid removed and with light behind it to show just how shitty the paint job actually is on closer inspection.... So I know a lot of us wanted this to be some sort of a prototype. But Borman was correct that it seems some peeps just gotta molest an xdk or two early on. So let this issue be put to rest. I will upload pics of the console restored in my collection pics once it gets fully done. It might take some time.....
